Daniel Craig calls Kardashians f***ing idiots

By Alexandra Heilbron on December 1, 2011 | 69 Comments

During an interview that will appear in the January edition of GQ magazine, James Bond star Daniel Craig went on a rant about the Kardashian clan. He spoke about his secret wedding to actress Rachel Weisz last summer and about keeping your private life under wraps. He said: “I think there’s a lot to be said for keeping your own counsel. It’s not about being afraid to be public with your emotions or about who you are and what you stand for. But if you sell it off it’s gone. You can’t buy it back – you can’t buy your privacy back. Ooh I want to be alone. F*** you. We’ve been in your living room. We were at your birth. You filmed it for us and showed us the placenta and now you want some privacy?” He went on to discuss the Kardashian family, who bare their lives in front of the camera for their reality series, Keeping Up With the Kardashians“Look at the Kardashians, they’re worth millions. I don’t think they were that badly off to begin with but now look at them,” he said. “You see that and you think ‘what, you mean all I have to do is behave like a f***ing idiot on television and then you’ll pay me millions.’ I’m not judging it – well, I am obviously.” Daniel will next appear in the new Bond film Skyfall, to be released to theaters next November.

well put, and succintly defined. perhaps a backlash against all these morons who dumb down tv for the rest of us is in order, no? “famous…for being famous” is so stupid. all these paris hilton wannabe’s (joisy shore/kardashians/real housewives/etc…) need to be off the air. is it just a fascination with these “train wrecks” of a show, or are people truly invested in these idiots? i feel sorry for avid viewers of these programs, thinking drunken lunacy is “cool” and somehow relevant in the real world. for pure escapism, go see 007, where you know it’s fantasy, without playing to the lowest common denominator. rant over.

  3. Nobody Important • December 1, 2011 @ 2:16 AM

Daniel Craig echo’s my sentiments. There’s something inherently wrong earning millions off a resume highlighted by a cheesy sex tape and a staged marriage. Thanks for bringing some, much-needed, sanity to Hollywood Daniel.

Daniel Craig, You are my HERO. Thank you for saying EXACTLY how I feel about those KardASShians

  5. ay • December 1, 2011 @ 8:39 AM

well said. cant be phrased any better. bring back the glory hollywood days with real actors with real talents.

  6. Karen • December 1, 2011 @ 9:13 AM

THANK YOU,Daniel Craig!! It totally baffles me why people want to watch these so-called reality shows. I feel as sorry for the people watching who need some staged voyeurism to make them happy, as for the people who are so manipulative/empty/power-hungry (whatever it is) that they throw self-respect in the gutter to create these shows. (what a terrible run on sentence)

i have loved DC for years and now i love him even more. more importantly, i respect him even more. i think he is a stand up guy who is obviously intelligent and has his head on straight. kudos to him for speaking his mind.

  9. Cumthia • December 1, 2011 @ 9:36 AM

It really comes across as to who has a good head on their shoulders. I don’t even understand why anyone would watch the Kardashians. What a bunch of narcissistic fame-whores.

  10. Alice • December 1, 2011 @ 9:40 AM

I love a guy that speaks his mind!

  11. Vera • December 1, 2011 @ 9:49 AM

Kudos to Daniel Craig for speaking the truth. I myself am sick to death of these Kardashians trying to steal the spotlight. And not that I’m trying to stir up any unnecessary controversy here, but doesn’t it seem just a bit odd that not one, not two, but all THREE sisters have names that start with the letter K? Just look at the letters of all three names, you’ll know what I’m trying to say. Do I feel bad that Kim’s marriage to Kris Humphries ended so soon? No, I don’t. Enough with the Kardashians already, there are far more interesting stories to read than this crap. Anyway, moving on …….

  12. D. Chan • December 1, 2011 @ 9:55 AM

I am not really a fan of him, but now he rocks!! I was just glancing thru all the comments and relieved that so many people are just as disgusted by that Kardashian clan…

  13. David • December 1, 2011 @ 9:57 AM

I already liked the guy but he has now gone up 2 more notches in my book! Way to go DC!

  14. David • December 1, 2011 @ 10:14 AM

Thank-you Daniel!! I don’t watch the reality show but I am so sick of turning on the tv and hearing about the heavy make-up fakey Karadshians. Sex-tape?? Short fake marrage Etc……..When will they just go away and why don’t people stop watching so the network will shut them out!!

  15. cj • December 1, 2011 @ 10:15 AM

Wasn’t a huge fan of Daniels till now…so right on!
I hate the Kardashians and “reality crap” even though I have never seen it nor ever intend to…but even going to check my email its posted on all yahoo sites…its unintelligent, meaningless, CRAP!

  16. DL • December 1, 2011 @ 10:20 AM

I LOVE Daniel Craig and enjoy the movies he chooses to appear in…and yes..celebrity can he handled in two ways…some of the best do not bare their souls and everything else on tv..or everywhere else…they are working when they do their movies, tv, live theatre etc and the fact that the voyeurs that are the public want to know every detail of a celebrities life…well to me I would rather watch paint dry then watch a Reality Show..the ONLY exception is Jean Simmons Family Jewels and I watch it when I notice it is on but mainly because his family is a hoot..and I love Nick’s humour!!! He makes me laugh!!! As for the Kardashians. I always thought they were plastic people and I do not have ANY respect for plastic people…Anyway this is my opinion..thanks for asking!! DL 🙂

  17. Eli • December 1, 2011 @ 10:53 AM

A voice of reason out of the wilderness

  19. Jenny • December 1, 2011 @ 11:21 AM

I adore Daniel Craig and respect him and his new wife
    as actors.
    Your words are so correct!!
    You Rock DC
    JS

  20. AJ • December 1, 2011 @ 11:43 AM

Very well put Mr. Craig. I love you now because I see a part of you now that I like — common sense and what I interpret to be good morals. Thanks for saying pubicly what I feel.

  21. doug blackman • December 1, 2011 @ 12:09 PM

Good Mr Bond I agree wholeheartedly re the K clan and all those inane reality shows that fill the waves these days PLEASE put a stop to this crap Networks.

  22. NJ • December 1, 2011 @ 12:10 PM

WELL said! Bravo! Hate the stupid Kardashians. No reason why they should be famous! Seriously!!!

  23. Frank from Sweetwater Tennessee • December 1, 2011 @ 12:19 PM

It astounds me that ANYONE watches, or gives a rat’s rear about the Kardashians. WHY are they popular? It embarrasses me to be American and have this absolute crap on TV, and it takes the guts of a Brit to say its crap. WHy don’t our stars come out and say what Mr. Craig has said? Does it not embarrass the legitimate actors in the United States (Canadians are lucky – this smut comes from south of your border!) that this type of media hype actually makes money, thereby taking away from the craft of Acting? Thank you Daniel Craig, and please any other actors of similar caliber that garner public attention, please speak out about this integrity vacant obsession.

  24. Lucky • December 1, 2011 @ 12:26 PM

I have always maintained that just because someone is famous they do not automatically lose their right to privacy and those who put their lives on display for money are pathetic. Someone please explain to me why reality tv is so damn popular? Do we really need to live vicariously through other people’s lives? Why not create your own success and be happy with that?

  25. MTC • December 1, 2011 @ 12:34 PM

I agree to all that are written here.
One question I have for everyone is:
    Who’s got the money?

  26. Judy • December 1, 2011 @ 12:42 PM

You have that right Daniel, I wish all TV channels would get them off the air. We should revolt and quit
our subscriptions for TV till they do.Have a good one everyone who agree.

  27. David Roy • December 1, 2011 @ 12:50 PM

Hey, who’s going to stand up for the poor Kardashian’s? They’re taking a beating by Daniel Craig and now by most of the bloggers. It’s not their fault if they get paid millions by acting like idiots in front of cameras. Somebody (a lot) must be watching that trash. Just kidding! Go Daniel! They deserve every nasty criticism that comes their way.

  28. Danielle • December 1, 2011 @ 12:54 PM

Bravo Daniel!!!! Like you sooooo much more now!!!

  29. Krantzstone • December 1, 2011 @ 1:19 PM

To be honest, I don’t know that why people get that riled about it. If he doesn’t like the Kardashians, he doesn’t have to watch them. I don’t particularly care for reality TV in general, so I don’t watch those shows. There’s obviously an audience for it, and while I may think it’s silly, it’s people’s choice if they want to watch it. I think it’s a little weird, a little EdTV-like, but the Kardashians signed off on it (and it’s mostly staged anyway).

I find stalker paparazzi way creepier, although being a celebrity obviously entails some of that attention. I doubt celebrities would be so hostile to paparazzi if paparazzi would treat them like human beings. I’d probaby get pissed if some strangers started flashing bulbs in my face for no reason too, especially when they could have simply asked permission politely first.

  30. Susan • December 1, 2011 @ 1:52 PM

Well said Daniel Craig! I like your cool acting style too. Very much like how Clint Eastwood used to be.
I didn’t even know he was married to Rachel Weiss even though they did a movie together. He is good at keeping a low profile.

  31. Margaret • December 1, 2011 @ 1:52 PM

I am sooooo glad somebody said it!!!!

  32. Anne Marie Stephen • December 1, 2011 @ 1:52 PM

He might have chosen nicer language, but I certainly agree with the meaning.

I’m sick to death of all this “reality” TV. It has nothing more to do with reality than little green men on Mars.

If Joe Public acted the way these reality “stars” do, we would be censured hard and fast.

  33. Robert • December 1, 2011 @ 2:44 PM

Thank-you Mr. Craig! A good reminder how we as viewers pay into these idiot reality stars that are really not true stars…wasting and damaging Television. Just for this, I’m watching every James Bond movie that Daniel Craig did and will do in the future. Kudos to a true star! 🙂

  34. Rose • December 1, 2011 @ 3:01 PM

The first time I heard Kardashians I thought people were talking about Star Trek:) These women have no class and I don’t give a crap how weathly they are. The Americans who allow this kind of garbage into the media are greedy – the people who watch their TV show, need to re think they lives.

  35. Ellie • December 1, 2011 @ 3:04 PM

I think he echoes most of the population when he says that… how can these socialites do sex tapes and get such noterity for being sluts… Its ludacrious. I applaud him. Cause I think the same way.

  36. Juliana (Calgary) • December 1, 2011 @ 3:14 PM

Always did like you, Daniel, and thank you for speaking out for the rest of us, as well. I always wondered how the Kardashians got to be so popular because they don’t seem to have any talent. Kim with her huge butt and plastered on make-up is gross. Brother Rob seems to be a good guy as witness on Dancing With The Stars. Here’s an old joke … When they took the make-up off Debbie Fay Bakker, they found Jimmy Hoffa. Well, the same can be said of Kim Kardashian.

  37. Ellie • December 1, 2011 @ 3:35 PM

Choice of language not the best, however, extremely accurate…

  38. Sol • December 1, 2011 @ 3:43 PM

What a jerk – the Kardashian sisters are beautiful women and should be treated as such. I thought James Bond was supposed to have a bit of class.

  39. Wendy • December 1, 2011 @ 3:48 PM

Very obserevant man is Mr. Craig!! Well said Danie.

  40. Sharon • December 1, 2011 @ 4:26 PM

Thank you Daniel Craig for saying what most people think when it comes to reality shows. My family have given up on TV because of Reality Shows. Where are the real actors that could produce a good half hour show? Bring back the make believes they where way better to watch. Real housewives, there’s nothing real about them.

  41. Sara • December 1, 2011 @ 4:45 PM

    i totally agree with Daniel…what a family!!!

  42. cliff • December 1, 2011 @ 5:18 PM

My hero… finaly an actor who speaks out about all the crap on TV…there is less and less good stuff on,no wonder the internet is taking over…thanks Dan…more actors should put a stop to this madness…

  43. Mery • December 1, 2011 @ 5:26 PM

DC is hot. Now he is even hotter. I opt from watching todays TV reality shows. What do these people actually do or have to offer? Talent or education or talent. I saw a pic of Kim K. serving food to the homeless. Yah right. She did that out of the goodness of her big heart. I wonder if DC and all the hate just helped this family get more publicity. The best thing to do is just dont pay attn to this family and let them fade away until the new generation decideds to do something worthy of themselves. Worthy of good TV.

  44. Doris • December 1, 2011 @ 5:38 PM

    So well put. You rock!!

  45. Paulie Walnuts • December 1, 2011 @ 5:46 PM

MTC, it’s not all about money.

I’d rather be “poor” than rich and a moron as per Paris Hilton, the Kardashiansn and the rest who can’t name the continents, for example.

And these idiots are “role models”!?! If that’s the case, the human race is in trouble.

  46. DM • December 1, 2011 @ 6:11 PM

Well said, Daniel… a person’s private life should be private. I can’t stand most of these stupid reality shows, and I DO NOT get why people watch them? The K clan are boring, obnoxious, phoney, and I wish they’d just quietly go away. Surely they have enough money to not ever have to work (if you call what they do ‘work’?) again! A bunch of talentless, greedy, fame whores! Kim feeding the homeless, that was a joke! She only did it because of the negative publicity she’s gotten over her phoney marriage! Please make them go away! I can’t believe Barbara Walters is having them on her 10 most interesting people!!! Did Kris pay BW to be on her show??? Seriously! Sorry Barbara, you lost my interest in your show just because you have them on it!

  47. gbh999 • December 1, 2011 @ 6:18 PM

It is pleasant surprise, to have a person in the entertainment industry, with some crediblity, stand up and voice an honest oponion, about these wanna-beez. This whole family would sell each other out, for the price of a cheap meal. Just as long as somebody else would pay for the limousine, and the cameras to record the event. Like anybody really gives a f–k where they were last night. This family of lazy, fat-assed whores, should be thrown out of the industry. I find it hard to believe, that having these deluded people associated with any TV show, be it these so-called reality shows, or any other type, would have any cache’ to draw commercial money to the networks. I know that I would never waste my time, tuned into anything these pukes, are being paid for.

  48. janet • December 1, 2011 @ 7:02 PM

wow… I can’t believe all the hate out there for the Kardashians… I don’t understand how they are still making bags of money when no one likes them???? How is this possible?

  49. Lori • December 1, 2011 @ 7:25 PM

    Absolutely agree with him!!!

  50. Kim • December 1, 2011 @ 7:49 PM

in a word……..CHEAP…it is easier to make these stupid reality shows than to make a tv show! and on that note……..justify the end……..MONEY!
too bad it has come to these stupid shows….everyone wants to do it now………..real TV is lost!

  51. Terry • December 1, 2011 @ 8:29 PM

Since everyone agrees that the Kardashians are total idiots, how did they become so popular???

  52. My opinion • December 1, 2011 @ 10:51 PM

I like a person who can speak his mind out loud. Well done Daniel. Like many people, I feel that the Kardashians are a joke and that they are all about money and popularity. But it still amazes me to see how many viewers still watch this type of pathetic entertainment. At what point in time did real talented entertainment be replaced by these pathetic reality shows. Not to mention that there is absolutely nothing real about these reality shows. Every scene is scripted and rehearsed. How can their viewers believe in anything these shows present.

  53. Sacailin • December 1, 2011 @ 11:36 PM

    DITTO!!! Kudos to Daniel!!

  54. Sol • December 1, 2011 @ 11:48 PM

I was being sarcastic when I defended the Kardashians earlier – I’ve never even watched one of their stupid shows – but is there not a certain amount of Darwinian Survival of the Fittest in the TV World that dictates that if something is successful, whether YOU like it or not, it somehow deserves to be?

Celebrities can’t create themselves you know, it takes a LOT of other people.

  55. K.S. • December 2, 2011 @ 12:15 AM

I couldn’t of said it better myself. Can’t wait to check out the new James Bond Flick it looks sick and I’m sure the main Girl will be gorgeous. As for the Kardashians y’all are wack, very annoying and y’all have no talent please give your TV Slot to a Family or someone with talent.

    Thanks

  56. Stud_Dookie • December 2, 2011 @ 2:23 AM

Daniel has gone up a peg in my book, a whole peg!! And to hell with Kim, she is just a creepy looking Brit with no talent.

  57. Jane Doe • December 2, 2011 @ 9:39 AM

DC echoes my sentiments – to a T!

I happened to catch a moment of their show where the Mother went out and made a business deal off her urinary incontinence! Then again, Whoopie Goldberg did the same thing.

Besides, when did big a$$es suddenly become so attractive?

Let’s also not forget the Duggars and their claim to fame – using Mom’s vaginal tract as a human waterslide!

  58. Nessa • December 2, 2011 @ 11:55 AM

Yay! I love Daniel Craig! He’s awesome. Thank you for not sugar coating it.

  59. Sara • December 2, 2011 @ 1:26 PM

On the nose, Mr. Craig! On the nose!

  60. Marion • December 2, 2011 @ 2:11 PM

Beautiful! Finally someone who says what needs saying! Good on you Daniel Craig! And happy holidays!

  61. Sassy Lass • December 2, 2011 @ 3:02 PM

What have the Kardashians done for society? Enough said today…

  62. Marky-Mark • December 2, 2011 @ 4:33 PM

And reality tv is different from Hollywood in the 30s and 40s how??? Let’s see they had fake relationships, fake marriages, fake sexual orientations all for the mighty studio dollar. They followed them around with film crews setting up fake reality all the time. We’re just redoing it but with a hell of a lot more exposure because of technology.

  63. Nobody Important • December 3, 2011 @ 9:10 AM

Yes, but at least actors of that era could act, choreograph, and remember their lines. Thus far, the only lines we’ve seen Kim remember is “I do”, and “Stick it up my ar$e Ray J”

  64. chantel_0638 • December 3, 2011 @ 3:42 PM

Thank god one celebrity had the balls to say it!!

  65. dennis • December 3, 2011 @ 7:05 PM

    bang on!!!!!!!

  66. Julia • December 5, 2011 @ 5:40 AM

Very right. First show off themselves, then wishing to have privacy… Bravo 😉

  67. josh • December 5, 2011 @ 4:36 PM

sad truth is we can hate the fame w**** sisters all we want but it wont get them off the air anytime soon unless the networks do something about it at least Daniel is not afraid to speak his mind

  68. Susanna • December 6, 2011 @ 2:14 AM

I have never watched their show and never would. It would be a real joy to never EVER hear about them…PERIOD!!! However, every time I go to the check out in the supermarket….there are the Kardashian mugs on every darn tabloid paper, on every stand. How on earth can we get away from them??????

  69. L • December 11, 2011 @ 3:19 PM

Very well said Daniel, you personal life should be just that.

Those reality shows are just stupid nonsense about their stupid boring lives, no matter how much money they have only losers air out all there personal stuff! Get a real life people!

    Congrats on your wedding Daniel!
