David Cassidy, 60, has been charged with driving under the influence. The former teen idol, who rose to fame on the 1970’s show The Partridge Family, was stopped Wednesday in Florida when his white Mercedes crossed the center divider line on a turnpike, cutting off another driver. According to a police report posted by the Palm Beach Post, Cassidy told the officer he had a glass of wine at lunch and had taken a painkiller (hydrocone) earlier in the day. He was given a field sobriety test and blew .14, well above the legal limit in Florida. A half-empty bourbon bottle was reportedly found in the car. Cassidy was charged with driving under the influence, failure to maintain a single lane and having an open container. He spent nine hours in jail before being released on $350 bail. David’s rep, Jo-Ann Geffen, told TMZ that David wasn’t drunk, but “may have been tired from an early morning funeral” he attended and had taken “a pain pill for his back.” She also said, “He would never jeopardize anyone on the road… he’s never been arrested in his life before for anything.”

David Cassidy, known best for his role on The Partridge Family and his career as a ‘70s teen heartthrob, has died in a Florida hospital. He was 67 years old.
remember his glory days back in the early seventies? HaHa, poor guy he’s fallen pretty hard since then.
I still think he’s great, I saw him when he came to Toronto in the musical Blood Brothers at the Royal Alex.
Yeah, his dad had a huge drinking problem, I hope David hasn’t gone the same way.
no priors? Is that why the low $350 bail? Open liquor bottle and .14 does not look good at all. Either way he was intoxicated and could have cause a major accident. Wine or pills or funeral and tired?? Lots of excuses.
That’s the primary function of celebrity publicists to make stuff up when their clients are in trouble and add spin. There’s ZERO excuse for drunk driving no matter what. The other vehicle swerved and could have killed someone in oncoming traffic.
I hope he mans up and admits what he did. Judge is crazy with $350.00 being too low. He should at least lose his license which this story didn’t indicate for a long period of time. Either way, he’s got substantial problems.
Wow!!
He looks very young for 60. I might take up drinking.
