Dawn of the Planet of the Apes wins box office war

People went ape over the weekend for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. The film took top spot at the box office with an estimated $73 million domestically. It’s a hit with Tribute fans as well, who gave it 4.8 stars. After enjoying a top place finish for two weeks in a row, Transformers: Age of Extinction was pushed to No. 2 with a weekend take of $16.5 million and a total of $209 million over its three-week run in theaters. Tribute viewers enjoyed it, rating it 3.7 stars. Tammy dropped a spot to third place, bringing in $12.9 million over the weekend and a total of $57.3 million over its two week run. Tribute.ca fans voted Tammy at 2.9 stars. Movie viewers kept 22 Jump Street in fourth place, hauling in $6.7 million over the weekend. The fiery fifth box office spot goes to How To Train Your Dragon 2 for the second week in a row. Rated 4.5 stars by Tribute viewers, it brought in $5.8 million this weekend. After five weeks, Dragon continues to soar high with $152 million domestically.
