Demi Lovato: fewer friends since rehab

The “forever” part in “Best Friends Forever” never seems to be the case. X Factor judge and singer Demi Lovato, 20, said she discovered who her true friends were after three months of rehab in 2010. She said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, “A couple of months before I went to rehab, I had a birthday party, and there were a couple of hundred people there. It was full of people who I considered my closest friends. When I turned my phone on after being in rehab for three months, I expected lots of text messages and phone calls. I had four texts. That was a wake-up call.” Demi was admitted into rehab for “emotional and physical issues” as she struggled with bulimia, cutting and bipolar disorder. Although the number of friends in her social circle have diminished, she now surrounds herself with those she knows will be there for her.

She told Company magazine, “I don’t have loads of friends. I used to, but then I realized, do any of them actually care? Now I have people who, if I break my leg in the middle of the night, will come to the hospital with me. Or they’ll answer the phone at 4 a.m. if I need them.” Demi’s new album is set to release on May 14, with songs that reflect her life thus far. She said during an interview on LIVE with Kelly and Michael, “With the album I have a ton of upbeat songs [that are] super catchy that get stuck in your head, which is a good thing. But I also have some pretty emotional songs on there, opening about things that I haven’t ever really talked about. It’s a big deal for me.” ~E.Guevarra

That is too sad. She is such a sweet girl and it wasn’t like she went to rehab for drugs, alcohol, or the other ridiculous things people like Lindsay Lohan and Amanda Bynes have done. Poor thing, I hope she bounces back alright.
