Demi Lovato slams Disney channel

Teen star Demi Lovato was not happy with the Disney channel when they made a joke about eating disorders on one of their shows, Shake it up. The line in question was, “I could just eat you up, well if I ate.” Lovato once starred on the Disney show Sonny with a Chance but left the series to deal with her own issues with food and depression. She even dropped out of her tour with the Jonas Brothers earlier this year and checked into a treatment facility to help with “emotional and physical issues,” according to her rep.

Lovato took to Twitter to share her disappointment writing, “I find it really funny how a company can lose one of their actress’ from the pressures of an EATING DISORDER and yet still make joke about that very disease….. #nice.” Disney immediately took action, pulling and reevaluating the two episodes involved, as they stated on Twitter. “It’s NEVER our intention to make light of eating disorders!”

I hate Disney Channel so much. They are just making some of these girls have fame go to their head (ex. Lindsay, Miley, Britney, Christina) and get into trouble. Demi, Selena, and all those girls who are actually good role models didnt. Demi should be P.Oed about that. It isnt funny at all.

And a quick note: Those new girls (China-Anne, Bella, Zendaya, even Debby Ryan) better not mess this up by thinking their the next big thing and going all miley or Lindsay on themselves. Choose the route that demi and Selena went: being true to themselves and not thinking that Disney Channel will always have their back.

Cause look at Lindsay. They don’t seem to care about her and her problems any more.

I think she is over reacting a little bit but i don’t blame her. I’m sure her disorder is fresh in her mind. Its like when someone who tried to kill themselves and failed, all of a sudden someone saying “i wish i could just die” becomes more personal. Its not that the person said it to be offensive but for those who have dealt with it its personal so that’s just how they make it.

I’m all for equality, being politically correct and non discriminatory. Though I can’t help but think in this day and age we’re all taking things a little too far/serious.

Eating disorders are just a bunch of lies people make up to get attention. Same thing when fat people can’t get off the couch to exercise.

Demi is both right and wrong but she has to realize that even though she’s dealing with this on a personal level not everyone will try to accommodate her wishes and she should allow them the freedom to conduct their programmes as they wish. She overreacted a great deal with the eating disorder making light of bit, I mean it was just a joke.
