Despicable Me tops weekend box office

The animated movie Despicable Me, featuring the voice talent of Steve Carrell, has taken over the top place at the weekend box office, earning an estimated $60.1 million (all figures $U.S.) and a Tribute Viewer Rating of 4.2 out of 5 stars. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse dropped one spot to second, earning an additional $33.4 million for a domestic total of $237 million. Tribute viewers rated it 4 out of 5 stars. Another new release, Predators (Tribute Viewer Rating: 4.2), starring Adrien Brody, came in third, earning $25.3 million. Toy Story 3 (Tribute Viewer Rating: 4.4) dropped one spot to fourth, earning an additional $22 million. The Last Airbender rounded out the top five with $17.2 million and a Tribute Viewer Rating of 2.9 out of 5 stars. In Canada, the top two movies were the same, but Toy Story 3 was third and Predators was fourth. Rounding out the top five was Grown Ups.
