Donna Summer dead at 63

Donna Summer has taken her last dance. The proclaimed Queen of Disco passed away this morning after a battle with cancer. “Early this morning we lost Donna Summer Sudano, a woman of many gifts, the greatest being her faith,” said her family in a statement. “While we grieve her passing, we are at peace celebrating her extraordinary life and her continued legacy. Words truly can’t express how much we appreciate your prayers and love for our family at this sensitive time.” Summer rose to fame during the Disco craze of the 1970s thanks to songs like “Love to Love You Baby,” “Hot Stuff” and “She Works Hard for the Money.” In 2008 she released her first album in more than two decades, Crayons, and the following year was honored to perform for President Obama at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo, Norway. ~Kyle Sharp

Really sad. She was a heavy smoker and died of lung cancer — it’s such a bad addiction, so hard to quit but it’s worth it if you can.
