Matt Damon will join Morgan Freeman in the Clint Eastwood-directed film The Human Factor. Set in South Africa, the film tells the story of rugby star Francois Pienaar (Damon), who helped create — along with South Africa’s President Nelson Mandela (Freeman) — an event that gave whites and blacks something to unite over in the aftermath of apartheid. The script is based on John Carlin’s book, The Human Factor: Nelson Mandela and the Game that Changed the World. Eastwood and Freeman will also produce the film, which is currently in pre-production. Spike Lee has so far had no comment about Eastwood’s latest project, which will feature Africans and African-Americans in leading roles.
