Eddie Murphy returns as Beverly Hills Cop

With the box office bomb Norbit still a lingering embarrassment, comedian Eddie Murphy has made the decision to play it safe and reprise his role as Detroit detective Axel Foley in the fourth installment of Beverly Hills Cop for Paramount Pictures, according to showbiz trade magazine Variety. It’s been 14 years since the last in the series — Beverly Hills Cop III — was released. Shooting is to begin in 2009 with a 2010 release. The first Beverly Hills Cop movie was a huge success in 1984, grossing over $316 million worldwide. Murphy received three Razzie awards for Norbit — Worst Actor, Worst Supporting Actor and Worst Supporting Actress.
