Elizabeth flops at box office

Elizabeth The Golden AgeThe sequel Elizabeth: The Golden Age, featuring Cate Blanchett in a return to her Oscar-nominated role as Queen Elizabeth I, did not manage to break into the top five at the weekend box office, earning only $6.2 million in its opening weekend. Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married earned the top spot, taking in almost twice as much—$21.5 million—as the second highest rated movie, The Game Plan ($11.5 million), which dropped a spot only after two weeks of dominating the box office. In third place was George Clooney’s new flick, Michael Clayton, earning $11.01 million (all figures US). We Own the Night starring Joaquin Phoenix and Mark Wahlberg followed closely behind in fourth, taking in $11 million. Rounding out the top five was The Heartbreak Kid, which took a plunge from last week’s second place, grossing just $7.4 million.

Cate Blanchett did NOT win her oscar for Elizebeth,She won it for The Avaitor..Elizabeth was not an oscar-winning role for her, thereofre how could she return to her oscar winning role? This is an error in reporting!
also,21.5 million dollars is a lot more than double 6.2 million dollars, not almost double. This is an error in reporting as well as mathematics.

Please re-read the report Mr. Day. It says…”Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married earned the top spot, taking in almost twice as much — $21.5 million — as the second highest rated movie, The Game Plan ($11.5 million), which dropped a spot only after two weeks of dominating the box office.”

And the reporting as well as the mathematics is pretty much bang on!!

I’m also pretty sure that she did win an Oscar for her role in the first Elizabeth movie….but I could be wrong.

Hardly a stretch for a man like Blanchett to play Bob Dylan…
