Elizabeth Pena’s cause of death revealed

Elizabeth Pena died from complications caused by alcohol abuse. The La Bamba actress passed away aged 55 in Los Angeles last week following a brief illness and it has now emerged she was suffering from cirrhosis of the liver ”due to alcohol.” According to website TMZ, Elizabeth had the disease for months but it became acute shortly before her death. The site obtained a copy of the Modern Family star’s death certificate that said she had acute gastrointestinal bleeding hours before her death, which caused her heart to stop. The actress’ manager previously said she died of natural causes following a brief illness. Elizabeth had recently finished filming
the action series Matador for the El Rey network – who said in a statement: ”We are deeply saddened by the passing of our friend and colleague, Elizabeth Pena. She was a role model, a truly extraordinary performer and an inspiration in every sense of the word. Our thoughts are with Elizabeth’s family and friends during this difficult time. She will be deeply missed.” Elizabeth leaves behind her two children and husband Hans Rolla.
He said the company had no plans for a stock market listing and was keen to hold on to its independence. “Our independence allows us to pursue a long term strategy,” he said.
