Ellen Degeneres sells gay-themed sitcom pilot to NBC

TV queen Ellen Degeneres scored big recently after selling a new sitcom pilot to NBC. The daytime talk host pitched the idea of a gay-themed comedy series, tentatively titled One Big Happy, to the network, and they loved it. The show will focus on the lives of two friends – one straight and one a lesbian – who decide to have a baby together, which leads to feelings and complications developing. This isn’t Ellen’s first shot at TV production – she’s also involved with another new series for the CW based on a novel called Someday, Someday, Maybe by Gilmore Girls‘s Lauren Graham. One Big Happy, which will be written by Liza Feldman, is currently being developed jointly by Ellen and Warner Brothers TV. No actors have been cast yet.  ~Yara Matar
