Emma Stone and Maya Rudolph cover ‘Call Your Girlfriend’ with butter tubs

We all know Emma Stone is an ultra-talented actress, singer and lip syncer — but who knew she could also play the butter tub?

The La La Land star was a guest on Tuesday night’s season finale of the NBC sketch comedy series Maya & Marty, where she joined equally talented host Maya Rudolph in an a cappella rendition of Robyn’s “Call Your Girlfriend” — with the accompaniment of empty butter tubs.

Maya said the segment was inspired by the Swedish band Erato and their 2012 cover of the hit song.

“I saw this thing on YouTube a couple years ago of these three girls in their kitchen in Sweden singing a song, playing butter tubs, and I’ve been practicing ever since,” she said. “No pressure, just two gals hanging out with butter tubs.”

Emma and the Saturday Night Live alum then begin singing in near-perfect harmony, creating their own beat by clapping and drumming with the tubs. ~Shelby Morton

Lennon and Maisy Stella from the TV series Nashville also have done a much-viewed version on YouTube — check it out below:

I didn’t know Pitch Perfect ripped off this kind of thing from someone else, I thought they created it.
