Emma Watson cuts hair for Dragon role

Harry Potter star Emma Watson has cut her hair off because she wants to win the lead role in the Hollywood remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. She posted a photo (seen at left) of her new look on her Facebook page. A number of actresses, including Kristen Stewart, Carey Mulligan and Ellen Page, are said to be in the running for the part of computer hacker Lisbeth Salander in the upcoming movie, which is an English-language version of the 2010 Swedish movie of the same name. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is the first film in a suspense-filled trilogy based on the novels by deceased Swedish author Stieg Larson. Lisbeth is a punky girl with short hair, tattoos and multiple piercings. “Emma has auditioned with director David Fincher and cut her hair to look the part,” a source told British newspaper The Sun. The role is one of the most hotly-anticipated in Hollywood at the moment. Australian actresses Mia Wasikowska, Emily Browning, Sophie Lowe and Sarah Snook, as well as American Rooney Mara and an unnamed French actress, are also auditioning. I find it weird they’re re-making these awesome foreign films….. “let the right one in” and now this?

if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it!

    agreed!

the original Swedish version was an awesome film, and well cast…appearance wise, Emma could “make the cut”…

think the style suits her at any rate…

  4. mandee • August 10, 2010 @ 9:44 PM

yuck, i dislike her hair immensely. in my opinion, women should NEVER have hair shorter than their shoulders.

  5. mandee • August 10, 2010 @ 9:45 PM

ps. any movie with ellen page in it, is ok by me. i would consider seeing it if ellen gets cast. ellen is amazing.

  6. Underzenith • August 10, 2010 @ 11:03 PM

I think she looks pretty hot with short hair actually lol

Either Emma Watson or Ellen Page, both are amazing actresses and I probably won’t see the american version of this if it’s not one of those two actresses

  7. Jo-Anne • August 12, 2010 @ 8:36 AM

isn’t that kinda sexist, mandee? just a tad…
what about guys? what length should theirs be? curious….

  8. Mary • August 12, 2010 @ 4:05 PM

I think her new look is Fabulous!

  9. Monique • August 12, 2010 @ 9:00 PM

OMG JoAnne, it’s NOT sexist LOL it’s an OPINION.

  10. Jo-Anne • August 13, 2010 @ 7:34 AM

    it’s sexist….in MY opinion…

  11. mandee • August 15, 2010 @ 12:29 PM

joanne, just saw this. i have never (nor will i ever be) sexist. my personal opinion is girls look ugly with short hair. am i to assume you have short hair and i have offended you?

  12. Ally • August 15, 2010 @ 7:57 PM

I think she looks great with long hair. And I hope she gets the role, and not Ellen Page or Kristen Stewart. I can’t stand Ellen, she looks like a little boy, and Kristen can’t act. Emma is perfect for this

  13. Ally • August 15, 2010 @ 7:59 PM

Emma looks good with short hair, but I prefer her with long hair

  14. mandee • August 16, 2010 @ 6:24 AM

careful, ally. youll be the next one thats “sexist” over a hairstyle. 😛 aha.

  15. gypsy • August 16, 2010 @ 11:46 AM

Personally,I don’t like her in short hair at all!!I must admit I’m partial to long hair for both woman and men.The longer the better,as long as it’s kept clean and tidy!!!

  16. Jo-Anne • August 18, 2010 @ 9:03 AM

    nope…no short hair on me….and nope…you’ve not offended me…ever

  17. mandee • August 18, 2010 @ 1:49 PM

well then, how about not trying to start a fight by accusing me of being “sexist” over something as silly as me disliking short hair on women?

  18. Jo-Anne • August 19, 2010 @ 10:03 AM

    fight? haha opinions, dear…

  19. mandee • August 19, 2010 @ 5:49 PM

my opinion on what a “fight” is : anyone thats trying to cause any kind of anger, stress or other bad/negative feelings in someone else for any reason.

ex/ accusing someone of being sexist over them not liking short hair on women.

it sure seems like you were out to nitpick everything someone said, and since nancy, tg and gypsy havent been around, guess who you thought youd nitpick with? 😛

my life may already be filled with tons of stress (by the fact that im not moving bc my friend is being an idiot, the fact that im stuck in another low income job and wont be attending school come sept, again bc my friend was an idiot and convinced me to move only to wait until i couldnt reregister in school to decide i shouldnt move, etc etc) but being an online “sexist” is definitely at the bottom of the list for things that could possibly fit in my “stress me out” category. i dont know if any of this made sense, aha nor do i care. im exhausted and tomorrow is my last morning shift and then ill be on nights. (soon i will be making more sense WOOO !!!)

  20. gypsy • August 23, 2010 @ 11:34 PM

    Mandee,definitely made sense,and your bang-on with your comment!!!Take Care!

  21. mandee • August 24, 2010 @ 7:19 AM

  22. gypsy • August 24, 2010 @ 12:53 PM

No sense in complaining, looks like we’ve both been dealt cards from the bottom of a stacked deck!!Here’s looking to a much brighter future, for the both of us!!!There are many people who are in far worst shape than we are!!!!
Hoping that the future holds only the best for all that are hurting in any way, shape or form!!!!You Take Care now Mandee!!

  23. mandee • August 24, 2010 @ 5:52 PM

thanks, i hope we have a bright future too lol. its been a terrible few weeks 😛 . a girl from my work that i just met wants me to take sign language with her though, so we are going to look into that (since im losing my hearing hardcore). so, thats nice 😀 take care girlie, and anytime you wanna complain, im willing to listen !!!!!!!!!!!

  24. gypsy • August 25, 2010 @ 2:27 AM

Mandee, your a fighter if anyone can do it I believe you can and will!My granddaughter who’s 20 lost her hearing quite suddenly, she lives on the other side of Toronto, her mom was telling me she had a operation which brought back 60% of her hearing between her both ears,40 in one and 20 in the other.I will ask my daughter what the name of the surgery is for you.I’m not sure if it will help you,but anything is worth looking in to.I will call her tomorrow and let you know when i get the name some time tomorrow OK.keep your chin up Hun maybe this might help you.Take Care Mandee!!!!!!

  25. mandee • August 25, 2010 @ 7:15 AM

thatd be AMAZING if there was something that could help me, thanks! my hearing is so bad i have problems taking orders in the coffee shop im working in, i always feel like such an idiot. i have hearing aids, but they arent helping and ive lost a lot of hearing in the right ear just over the past few months (they had to readjust my hearing aid bc of how much hearing i lost within the last 2 months!) its stressing me right out. not good for someone with depression! why did your granddaughter lose her hearing? they cant find any cause for mine, everything looks healthy and normal, i just cant hear. hope youre having a good day, started my new full time job 2 weeks ago, went on midnights this week and i am loving the girls im working with. 😀 hope youre doing well, and thanks again for any info you give me !

  26. Amy • August 25, 2010 @ 3:44 PM

Honestly, even though they are thinking of using one of the very many actresses I like, I think they shouldn’t remake the swedish movie “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” that’s already been translated in English subtitles. It just defeats the purpose of subtitling it and bringing it forth into an english speaking society.

  27. mandee • August 25, 2010 @ 8:11 PM

amy, i like when they do the original with subtitles and then remake it, then you can see each cultures opinion of the movie. mind you, most of the ones i have saw, i liked the original, subtitled one better !! 😀

  28. gypsy • August 26, 2010 @ 11:44 PM

Mandee, sorry it took so long but I have some info that may help I hope.My granddaughter had tubes put in at first, then hearing aids which didn’t last long. This could happen to anyone at any time or any age.Her mom took her to SUNNYBROOK HOSPITAL in Toronto, there they did a cat scan, found out she had bi-lateral nerve-sensory hearing loss, deep in Cochlea of ears. There they did a COCLEAR IMPLANT operation which has given her back 40% of her hearing, which is far better than being COMPLETELY deaf! This was done at SUNNYBROOK Hospital, hope this helps you,as your symptoms are very similar to hers! You Take Care Mandee.

  29. mandee • August 27, 2010 @ 3:07 AM

thanks, gonna google it now. what does that surgery involve do you know? and does she still have hearing aids as well?

  30. mandee • August 27, 2010 @ 3:10 AM

also, do you know how much it costs (if anything) in canada?

  31. gypsy • August 27, 2010 @ 11:33 AM

Mandee,no hearing aids now,not sure about the surgery but I will try to find out for you asap.As for the costs I believe its covered by OHIP in Canada!!Take Care!!

  32. mandee • August 27, 2010 @ 3:50 PM

  33. gypsy • August 27, 2010 @ 11:45 PM

Mandee its a 5 hour surgery, and YES its covered by OHIP!TAKE CARE!!

  34. mandee • August 28, 2010 @ 3:34 PM

  35. gypsy • August 31, 2010 @ 4:42 AM
