According to several reports, Harry Potter star Emma Watson is a frontrunner to play the submissive Anastasia Steele in the screen adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey. The actress has been the latest of many names linked to the project. The rumor mill has been spitting out different names almost weekly since Universal Pictures and Focus Features won the rights for the project in March. The film follows the erotic S&M relationship between a young college graduate and a controlling businessman named Christian Grey. Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti, the producers behind The Social Network, will be producing this film. A director has not yet been announced and the male lead has not been cast. It would definitely be interesting to see the clean-cut Emma Watson – best known for playing the brainy Hermione in the Harry Potter series – step into such an adult role. ~Stacy Raivich

Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling and Canadian author Margaret Atwood are two of many public figures signing an open letter denouncing “cancel culture.”
Hope she doesn’t lower herself and doesn’t accept this role. She can do better.
I have a lot of respect for Emma. This is a good opportunity for her but on the other hand she’s such a good role model so this role might hurt her reputation.
oh geeze. I hope not. Don’t think I can see her in a role like that just yet.
I like her but she is too cute and don’t think she can pull it off, please don’t
Speculation for now. This would certainly change the image of her, but really we all saw her as a kid. Not something I want to see. It’s like if I had a daughter and seeing her on screen doing the scenes in the book. This likely would hinder the movie.
Ok…Ana is a young college student with a natural beauty to her.. Who finds herself involved with a type of relationship she never even knew was out there… She evolves sexually and mentally throughout this trilogy… As I am sure all of the readers can agree… Emma is not someone we would have conjured up in our minds to ever play this role…. I can not say who exactly would be perfect… But Emma is not Ana…said with no offense to Emma.
They should ask Rihanna instead.
