“Something is coming that is out of my control,” Moses (Christian Bale) warns Rhamses (Joel Edgerton) in the first trailer for Ridley Scott‘s biblical epic, Exodus: Gods and Kings. John Turturro‘s heard – but never seen – Pharaoh Seti narrates the Jewish and Egyptian leaders’ past as close friends who rode into battle together on chariots, before differing ideologies turned their swords against one another.
In addition to sweeping cinematography, grand sets, and breathtaking scenery that would have made Cecil B. DeMille balk, the trailer also offers a brief, albeit impressive glimpse of the 12 plagues (rendered in CG) and a first look at Sigourney Weaver as the Egyptian Queen Tuya. Sydney Wayser’s atmospheric cover of Simple Minds’ Belfast Child can be heard over the action. Exodus: Gods and Kings will be released December 12th in 3D and large-format theaters.
