F9 races into theaters today as the next action blockbuster

This weekend’s major release is F9: The Fast Saga!

Releasing today, F9 is the latest chapter in the Fast & Furious Saga – a collection of movies that has grossed over $5 billion worldwide since its inception in 2001. The ninth installment is set to be another blockbuster, toting an action-packed plot and bringing back the actors who have become household names.

Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) and little Brian are leading a quiet life off the grid, although they know that danger is never far off their peaceful horizon. This time, the threat puts Dom back in the fast lane as he assembles his crew to square off against his younger brother Jakob (John Cena), the most skilled assassin and high-performance driver they’ve ever encountered. Jakob has come for revenge against his elder sibling with a a world-shattering plot, teaming up with familiar foe Cipher (Charlize Theron) in his quest for vengeance against Dom and his family.

F9 also stars returning cast members Tyrese Gibson as Roman Pearce, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges as Tej Parker, Helen Mirren as Magdalene Shaw, and Nathalie Emmanuel as Ramsey. It is directed by Justin Lin, who also directed the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth chapters of the saga. Click here for showtimes. ~Cassandra Coleman
