Fans outraged over new Bridget Jones’ Diary novel

Fans around the world are outraged at author Helen Fielding over the news that Mark Darcy will be killed off in the third volume of her Bridget Jones’ Diary novel. The novel, titled Mad About the Boy, will follow 51-year-old Bridget and her life five years after the death of her husband, Mark. Still recovering, the mother of two turns to 29-year-old Roxter, whom she meets through Twitter. It’s unclear how Mark dies, but the death will appear via a flashback. Although there has been no official announcement, there is talk of making a third movie, although there’s no word on whether Colin Firth, who played Darcy in Bridget Jones’ Diary and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, will be included. Both Colin and Renée Zellweger (who played Bridget) have expressed their interest in reprising their roles in the new movie, but only if the script is right.
