Father of Glee star murdered

The father of Glee star Charice Pempengco was stabbed to death yesterday in the Philippines. Ricky Pempengco, 39, was out drinking with friends when he got up to buy cigarettes and bumped into an inebriated man identified as Angel Itawat Capili Jr., who stabbed Ricky to death with an ice pick in the chest and back and then fled the scene. The police are searching for the killer, and are offering a $470 reward for information that leads to his arrest. Charice, 19, rose to fame after a YouTube video of her singing went viral. She was asked to appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and had a recurring role on Glee as Sunshine Corazon. According to the Filipino media, her father’s violent and abusive behavior caused the family to break up when Charice was small. However, she posted on Twitter today: “I loved him and I will still love him. He’s still my Dad after all.” She apologized to her fans for pulling out of Wednesday and Thursday concerts in Singapore so she could travel home, tweeting: “I am not going to be there to be part of David Foster and Friends concert. I have to go back to the Philippines as soon as possible to be with my family.”
