‘Fault In Our Stars’ Amsterdam Bench goes missing

Fans hoping to pilgrimage to the bench in Amsterdam where lovers Augustus (Ansel Elgort) and Hazel (Shailene Woodley) shared a passionate kiss in The Fault In Our Stars will find only an empty space overlooking the Leidsdegracht canal. That’s right, a piece of movie memorabilia from the modern-day romance has gone missing, and even city officials don’t know whether rabid fans or routine repairman are to blame. City spokesman Stephan van der Hoek, who believes the bench has been lost for the better part of a month, told the Associated Press, “It’s a bit embarrassing, because we do keep good track of them, but it’s gone all right.”

According to spokeswoman Annemarie Bekker, tourists have been inquiring about the bench’s location, as well as various other landmarks where the film was shot in 2013, which are being highlighted on fan maps. Although Van der Hoek says the bench may be replaced in the coming weeks, he suspects it will turn up where most movie memorabilia can be found: “Keep your eyes on eBay,” he said. ~Daniel Horowitz

So weird. I think it was probably an obsessed fan, but that’s a big item to steal!
