First Gemini Award winners announced

Michael Seater of Life with DerekGemini Awards were given out to winners in Drama, Children’s and Youth, Comedy, and Variety categories last night in Toronto. The popular Family Channel show Life with Derek won two Geminis — Best Children’s or Youth Fiction Program or Series as well as Best Performance in a Childrens’ or Youth Series for the show’s 22-year-old star, Michael Seater. Shaftesbury Films’ outstanding series Murdoch Mysteries, starring Yannick Bisson, won Best Original Music Score. The Tudors picked up three awards for Best Sound, Best Picture Editing and Best Photography in a Dramatic Series. The 24th Annual Gemini Awards will conclude with the Broadcast Gala on Saturday November 14 in Calgary, Alberta, to be aired on Global and Showcase at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
