Foster outs herself

Jodie Foster at the Women in Entertainment Power 100 breakfastJodie Foster has finally openly admitted she’s a lesbian — sort of. While accepting the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award at the Women in Entertainment Power 100 breakfast in Los Angeles, the Oscar-winner thanked “my beautiful Cydney,” referring to movie producer Cydney Bernard. The relationship is common knowledge in Hollywood — the two have been together since they met during the filming of Sommersby (1993). Foster, who was raised by her lesbian mother, Brandy Foster, has two sons, but has never revealed the father(s) of the boys.

    this article says NOTHING

Who cares; she’s one of the better actresses in Hollywood.

Been together since 1993? Fourteen years in my book says “good for her”. Most relationships, straight or gay don’t last that long, let alone in Hollywood.

“Who cares; shes one of the better actresses in Hollywood.”
I agree totally, she is in the top 3 list of actors.

  6. Ch • December 20, 2007 @ 11:15 PM

she was good before. now so so, but do whatever she wants, we don’t really care.

  7. C B • December 21, 2007 @ 8:24 AM

I really don’t care who she sleeps with. She is probably one of the best actors that Hollywood has at the moment.
Let’s stop being so concerned about who someone loves for God sake, does it really matter in the greater scheme of things??

  8. HM • December 21, 2007 @ 9:41 AM

I don’t know why the media really goes after these people. People are just people like you and me, doesn’t matter if their straight or gay. We are all Gods children.

  12. chris • December 21, 2007 @ 10:59 AM

She is has always been a great actress since she was real young, she has grown to be a better more mature actress over the years. All the best to Jodie Foster & her carreer.

I really respect her for keeping her kids protected from the wild scences of Hollywood & everyone knowing her business. It’s good to have some privacy within your life of hollywood keeps your sanity that way.

  13. crappy • December 21, 2007 @ 11:07 AM

I thought there was something different about her. I don’t think so she openly reveal this personal private matter. I didn’t know her MOTHER is a lesbian. This would certainly define her as a person.

She is a great actress and nice enough person. I hope she is raising her kids with some non-gay influences.

  16. A F • December 21, 2007 @ 1:35 PM

No matter what, she’s the best actress I like since her first movie “Taxi Driver.” Sometimes it wasn’t easy for a famous celeb. like her to speak out about her private life!

  17. Christopher Deane • December 21, 2007 @ 2:09 PM

What next? Will we learn that she a dog and a cat that get along?

  18. Karen • December 21, 2007 @ 2:33 PM

One of the best actresses out there. Who cares what she does in her life as long as she is happy.

  19. Brian • December 21, 2007 @ 2:42 PM

    This is a non-story!!!!!

  20. Tara • December 21, 2007 @ 3:55 PM

i respect her just the same, she is a great actress and its good she can make a relationship last that long, espiecially in Hollywood.

  21. Tawny • December 21, 2007 @ 4:53 PM

How we live our lives is more important than our sexual persuasion. Being an honest, giving person who believes in treating living creatures with dignity is wonderful. Jodie lives her life quietly and entertains us well.

  22. WANDA • December 21, 2007 @ 4:56 PM

WHY DO PEOPLE FIND IT SO SHOCKING TO FIND OUT SOMEONE IS GAY OR LESBIAN… DOES IT MATTER… ARE THEY HAPPY? ARE THEY FORCING OTHERS THINK LIKE THEM? NO, SO WHAT IS THE PROBLEM.. IF THIS IS THE LIFE STYLE SHE CHOOSES FOR HERSELF, THEN I AM HAPPY FOR HER…SHE IS AN AWESOME ACTRESS, I WISH HER ALL THE HAPPINESS IN THE WORLD.

  23. Midnight • December 21, 2007 @ 6:31 PM

I tip my hat and bow to this actress, nothing to do with coming out. I have followed this womans career and she is one of the best in her industry………………I APPLAUD HER!

  24. gardenofeve • December 21, 2007 @ 7:49 PM

You are the talented soul behind those beautiful windows Jodie, so I have to agree with what I’ve read so far on minding my own business!

  25. Wall fly • December 21, 2007 @ 8:01 PM

Sigh, I once loved her… now I have to be toatlly male. Yummy…my mind it has now been emotionally perverted… ehh, maybe it was always that way. Good for her.. but who cares… I want to see her act, Kinda tired of hearing about peoples lives…

    signed,
Oh to be a fly on the wall!

  26. me • December 21, 2007 @ 9:51 PM

I didn’t know she was a lesbian or that she was raised by a lesbian. But I can’t say I’m totally surprised. And I don’t really care one way or the other, she is a great actress, and seems to be a really good person. Actually if she is gay, she’s my favorite type, the kind who doesn’t shove their sexuality in other peoples faces. I have a friend like that, she’s gay but doesn’t go around announcing it OR hiding it. She respects me for what I am (hetro), and I respect her for what she is (homo), it is basically a non-issue.
Jodie, do whatever makes you happy, raise your boys to be good members of society. That’s what we should all strive for.

  27. Nancy • December 21, 2007 @ 10:46 PM

She is an excellent actor. I would have preferred not to know her sexuality, as I do not agree with people being “gay”. We were given specific body parts for a reason! Wait! Before you jump down my throat for my opinion……I don’t agree with it but as long as it is not thrown in my face then it is their business what goes on behind their closed doors!

  28. joe • December 22, 2007 @ 2:08 PM

At least she is not from washington where animal love is OK!!!

  29. Anonymous • December 22, 2007 @ 4:39 PM

    Moving to Washington, Joe?

Regarding Jodie – it’s no surprise, been rumoured for years as a matter of fact. Never made me think less of her. The rest of the no-talents in Hollywood wish they had half her intelligence, looks and talent.

  30. me • December 22, 2007 @ 11:31 PM

Exactly, Nancy, homosexuality isn’t my cup of tea either, and I absolutely HATE all the “gay pride” parades and banners, etc. I don’t really think it’s right, but I just live and let live, if they don’t prance around preaching to me about it, I really don’t care. It’s the one’s who are always blatting on about it that p*ss me off, I hate those ones. Jodie has kept her personal life quite private and for that I respect her. She is proof that the stars CAN keep their personal lives private.

  31. Minerva • December 24, 2007 @ 1:50 AM

Oh who gives a cat’s hiney about who loves who. I agree, this is a non-story, a non-issue. Why should she have to announce it? Nobody expects a straight person to announce to everyone they know that they are straight. Nobody gay is obligated to make public statements about their sexual orientation either. Great actor, extremely talented. How nice that her mother is also gay. No danger in this case of Jodie being ostracized by an ignorant family then, just because of her preference. More power to her! Cheers!

  32. me • December 30, 2007 @ 3:51 PM

“how nice that her mother is also gay”???
wtf??? I don’t think her family would ostracize her anyway Minerva, and even if they were narrow minded enough to try, Jodie is intelligent enough to deal with it.

  33. Teresa • January 11, 2008 @ 7:19 PM

Its no big deal to me that Jodie Foster is Gay or Straight, she is a damn good actress, and if she is happy the media should leave her alone.
