Afterwards, she was brutally raped by him while he made his slave, Reek, watch.
Most of Sansa’s family is now dead and viewers were looking forward to seeing her become a strong young woman in this season, but the rape scene, which happened at the very end of the episode, could have a very negative impact on the extremely popular HBO drama.
Numerous longtime fans of the show have taken to social media and websites, claiming they will no longer watch.
The Mary Sue is a feminist site that claims it won’t cover the series anymore after the brutal rape scene. The website’s Editor-in-Chief, Jill Pantozzi, says the scene was not necessary to Sansa’s character development, nor was it necessary for the story.
One thing is for sure, Game of Thrones will always continue to have its loyal fans, though hopefully the controversial scene will be the last horrifying experience for Sansa, so she can move on with a strong and powerful future. ~Erin Stewart
