Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams unsure about Arya’s future

The highly anticipated fifth season of Game of Thrones is still months away, but Maisie Williams, who plays fan favorite Arya Stark, may have just given a major spoiler for how this season turns out for her character. “We’re coming to the end [of the books] now, so I don’t know what they’re going to do next year. It’s the end of Arya, as far as anyone knows,” she told The Guardian. She continued, giving details on what happens to the much-beloved Stark daughter. “There’s a big ending for Arya,” she explained. “They’re basically breaking her down, and you get to see behind the cracks.”

This isn’t the first time an actor’s role in the show has been rumored to be put on hold due to a lack of book material. The show’s executive producers admitted that both Bran and Hodor won’t be appearing in the upcoming season, as the show has caught up to their timeline in A Dance With Dragons. There is still plenty of Arya material from the books to cover, but from Maisie’s comments it sounds like the show is catching up far more quickly than anticipated.

The next installment in the series, The Winds of Winter, has yet to confirm a release date, but author George R.R. Martin has taken a step down from the show to focus on finishing the novel. ~Kelly Townsend
