Gemini Award winners announced

Erin KarplukThe 24th Annual Gemini Awards concluded yesterday with the Broadcast Gala, a glitzy event held this year at the historic BMO Centre in Calgary, Alberta. Hosted by award-winning comedian Ron James, a total of 17 awards were presented. The gala, broadcast on Global and Showcase, also included special tributes to Corner Gas, Royal Canadian Air Farce, and Trailer Park Boys for their outstanding and enduring contributions to the Canadian television industry. Flashpoint, nominated for 11 awards, won three — Best Dramatic Series, Best Direction (Kelly Makin) and Best Performance by an Actor for Enrico Colantoni. Best Performance by an Actress in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role went to Erin Karpluk for Being Erica. Other performance awards were won by Hugh Dillon (Of Murder and Memory), David Suchet (Diverted), Barbara Hershey (Anne of Green Gables: A New Beginning) and Christine Ghawi for Celine.
