The cast of the Emmy award-winning series Glee have broken a new record — the first and only act to place 200 entries on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, beating out Elvis Presley (108 songs), James Brown (91 songs), Ray Charles (74 songs), Aretha Franklin (73 songs) and The Beatles (71 songs). The cast first debuted on the chart in 2009 at #4 with their rendition of the popular song “Don’t Stop Believin” by Journey. They’ve since gone on to spend a total of 279 weeks in the top 75 with 201 different songs. To date, Glee has sold a whopping 43 million songs and over 12 million albums around the world. Their recent version of the song “Somebody That I Used to Know” by Gotye sold 170,000 in only two weeks.
