Glee creator threatens background performer

By Alexandra Heilbron on April 19, 2011 | 25 Comments

A background performer on the TV series Glee has been fired after tweeting spoilers about the show on Twitter to her followers. The producers and creators of the show either didn’t know, or didn’t mind, until she tweeted a major spoiler concerning who would be named Prom King and Queen in the highly anticipated prom episode: “K is PQ and Ka is PK.” [SPOILER ALERT! — Do not read any further if you’re a big Glee fan and don’t like to know what’s going to happen ahead of time: It means Kurt (Chris Colfer) is Prom Queen and Karofsky (Max Adler) is Prom King]. Glee creator Brad Falchuk was irate, more or less telling her she’d never work in the industry again when he tweeted: “hope you’re qualified to do something besides work in entertainment…Who are you to spoil something talented people have spent months to create?” Nicole has since deleted her Twitter account and it’s been rumored that the episode may be changed and reshot.

    Drama in the entertainment industry…You don’t say…

  2. Gregornious • April 19, 2011 @ 1:54 PM

    Who cares…?????

  3. Germain • April 19, 2011 @ 2:13 PM

I wish there would be ONE day I didn’t hear or read about that stupid show. When Americans go crazy for something, they won’t shut up about it.
I know personal taste differ but I can’t see the appeal in this show, then again, I don’t watch Dancing with the Stars, Skating with the Stars, American Idol and all that other crap.

I don’t think it’s that big a crime, a warning should suffice. She probably didn’t realize it was going to create that big a stir.

  5. Adam12 • April 20, 2011 @ 3:19 AM

    I HATE GLEE

  6. Radina • April 20, 2011 @ 4:45 AM

I personally don’t see the appeal of the show. It’s pretty cheesy.

  7. mandee • April 20, 2011 @ 5:19 AM

Germain on April 19, 2011 2:13 PM i am certain there are a lot of people that would call your fave shows “stupid” and would wish they didnt have to “hear about it” all the time, the only difference is they arent ignorant enough to come on to a gossip site and trash the show so that it makes you feel bad for watching the thing that might be your only escape from your daily problems. seriously, you need to stop acting like the world revolves around only you and only the things you like.

in other news, i have never watched glee, but i still think ruining it for others (and insulting it when others like it so much) is a really petty thing to do, these people need to wonder how they would feel if they were one of the people that LIKED this show.

  8. Germain • April 20, 2011 @ 8:44 AM

Mandee, I understand personal taste, what I HATE is overexposure. It’s nice to have a hit show but do we have to hear about it ALL the time? They hurt themselves because that’s how people get sick of it, because they overdo it.

  9. Germain • April 20, 2011 @ 8:49 AM

Ohh BTW Mandee, when I come on these sites and make comments, That’s my escape, that’s why they’re here. I’ll say whatever I please. Sometimes I joke around, sometimes I write my opinion but one thing is for sure, I won’t tone it down. What I say is about shows and actors that will never read these posts so I’m not hurting anyone. If I say anything insulting about someone who posted on here, I’ll apologize.

  10. TheTruth • April 20, 2011 @ 4:46 PM

I used to think Glee was only for women and gay guys, because that’s how late night talk show hosts and other media outlets talked about it jokingly.

However, after watching a few episodes mid run of season 1 the show actually grew on me. Yes, some of it is cheese to the whiz! And, some of it IS gay! But it’s actually a pretty hilarious show, with some hot young actor’s/tress’s who have talent and some who have more than just a few dance moves. Coach Sue is a riot 9 out of 10 times, and the songs being used in most cases are amazing, and usually performed extremely well. If you’re a fan of music, vocal’s and raw talent, you would become a fan of GLEE.

Brittany FTW! you so sexy you got a$s for days, rawr, hawt!

  11. mandee • April 20, 2011 @ 5:24 PM

Germain on April 20, 2011 8:49 AM i am not saying tone down your opinion or comments, i just dont understand why people always feel the need to be so negative in their comments (ex/calling a tv show stupid, or other ppl in diff articles calling the director stupid or a “toad” for no good reason). the world is a pretty bad place now, do we really need to make it worse by being so negative?

TheTruth on April 20, 2011 4:46 PM i have been interested in checking this show out, the problem is i missed so much of it i have to wait for it to come out on dvd (maybe it already has? aha)

  12. Coop • April 20, 2011 @ 9:40 PM

I agree with Germain,Glee sucks.I also applaude band like Gorillaz,Foo Fighters, and Kings of Leon for taking a stand against the use of their music on a show that is nothing more than glorified kareoke.
Chill out Mandee,we’re not attacking anyone’s personal character or tastes we’re merely expressing our opinion.

  13. Anthony • April 20, 2011 @ 11:01 PM

But aren’t you being negative about other people’s comments, mandee? It’s a total downer. Why not be positive and enjoy other people’s opinions. Or at least not criticize them.

  14. mandee • April 21, 2011 @ 7:50 AM

Andrea on April 20, 2011 11:01 PM i am only negative about things that will affect (or COULD affect) someone else. i am not going to “enjoy” other peoples nasty attitude. i am using my negativity to try to help guide others into seeing the beauty in life, rather than only the things they dont like. if you dont like the show, then dont read the article, if you dont like it dont turn on that channel when its on. there are so many ways around these things that everyone simply ignores because theyd rather whine and b*itch about how crappy everything is.

  15. Germain • April 21, 2011 @ 11:17 AM

If you don’t like my opinions/negativity, don’t read my damn posts. See, it goes both ways.

If you read all my posts, i’m not always negative.

  16. Andrea • April 21, 2011 @ 11:44 AM

I agree with Germain. Don’t try bring this site down mandee by dissing other people’s comments. People are allowed to say whatever they want here, you’re not the opinion police.

  17. Darwin Palma • April 21, 2011 @ 12:47 PM

It’s so interesting and fascinating to hear and read people’s opinions. We often forget how easy it is to criticize and put down other people, even when they are trying to bring a little bit of harmnoy. The funniest part is seeing how people usually incur in the behavior they are criticizing.

  18. Nessa • April 21, 2011 @ 9:28 PM

I am a huge fan of Glee. I’m addicted to it and I’ll watch episodes several times over. The thing that attracts most people to the show is people who are made out to feel like losers should stand up and be proud of themselves. The music, the jokes are an added bonus. Personally, I love Kurt the most. Anyway, getting back to the original topic of this thing. I can understand why the creators got pissed off. It’s just a big no no to let anything slip before the official release date. It doesn’t matter what it is. Whether it’s a tv show, movie, or album. The creative team behind it will get pissed at major leaks.

  19. Sam • April 21, 2011 @ 10:58 PM

I love GLEE, I watch it all the time. Why do I watch it, because it’s entertaining. This is how I find my music by watching the show and then googling the original singers. My co-worker and I watch it all the time. My other co-workers have their show preferences and I love to hear about the shows they watch. No I don’t watch Survivor or Idol or big Brother, etc.

We respect each other. People shouldn’t be putting others down for what they watch. It’s about being a big person and minding your manners. And guess what “NO ONE IS GETTING HURT”.

As for the person leaking information, what a spoiled person. Hope they never get another job in the entertainment business again.

Here’s a little fact that people should know. When Glee sings the music of other groups, the sales of that groups music increases, because everyone wants to hear the original artists.

When everyone mentions the other singers, I don’t like all of their music, it’s a hit and miss with the songs.

  20. Sammy • April 22, 2011 @ 12:21 AM

Is that really a spoiler? Anyone who watches the show really didn’t see that coming?

Ok here’s my rant on this spoiler…..

I know this is going to sound anti-gay but my intention isn’t meant to be offensive against gays or lesbians but I was a big glee fan at one point. The first season was very brilliant but this season has just been drilling the “how difficult it is for Kurt to be gay” and I’m sorry I do not feel any remorse for him and his feelings, I think the issue of “being gay” in this generation doesn’t remotely come close to what young gay men and women went threw during the 80’s and 90’s (speaking for my generation) If this was Kurt in my high school in 1993, he would have either been killed (seriously) or driven to suicide. He would have no protection from the teachers or the school board, the public or media or government all the things Gay men and women are protected with now.
I think Society has come a long way since “Ellen” came out in the airport or since Matthew Stepard was brutally killed for his sexualy orientation. Those stories really opened our eyes and broke ground but I just don’t feel Glee is really opening any doors towards the issue. Maybe Ryan Murphy is writing Kurt for his own issues when he was growing up in glee but without the “real” issues like when he was in school. It’s just getting to be too much, we get it but Kurt should know how good he really has it also because of people like Matthew Sheperd, people I grew up with who have taken their lives because they were told no one in the world would ever accept them… It’s not perfect but gays have come a long way.. Kurt really needs to grow up and see that!!!

  21. mandee • April 22, 2011 @ 2:06 PM

Germain on April 21, 2011 11:17 AM sorry, i didnt mean to imply youre ALWAYS negative, and youre right i dont have to read your posts, i choose to.

Andrea on April 21, 2011 11:44 AM the people that are “trying to bring this site down” are the ones that cant use constructive criticism when expressing their opinions, the ones that use terrible words, are rude about the people in the article, or insult others based on their differing views of the topic at hand. i dont insult people until they insult me or someone else, i dont come on here and read tasteful comments that disagree with mine and insult them based on how they feel, i attack when i am attacked or when i feel innocent people are being attacked for no reason.

Darwin Palma on April 21, 2011 12:47 PM i agree with you, and im not claiming to be better than anyone, i just want these people to see how they are ruining their own lives by being so miserable about everything all the time, and how they can affect people that actually like the people/things they put down.

Sam on April 21, 2011 10:58 PM well said 🙂

Sammy on April 22, 2011 12:21 AM i dont watch the show, but this is my opinion on your comment : i can understand how to YOU it wouldnt seem like a big deal, growing up in the time that you did…but kids in this day and age DO feel like what they are going through is the end of the world, they DO think its really just as bad as what people in the past went through, if not worse because people are conceited. when you are a teenager or in high school, you dont consider other people, you dont think about how others have had to suffer, you think about how YOURE suffering, what YOURE going through, and to them it is a really big deal. sure, kurt DOES need to grow up and see that, but he wont until they make it into a show about adults because they want this show to relate to the gay youths (and other youths) that are in high school now, i dont think they are specifically concerned with the way adults view their show.

  22. TheTruth • April 24, 2011 @ 1:18 PM

@Sam Amen. I really liked that additional information about how Glee actually helps artists make more money because it introduces new people to their music. For example, Kurt sang the Beatles song “Blackbird” one night, and I bet iTunes had a ton of sales on the original after that. How many people/teens/kids from this generation have even ever heard of that song? Glee has cool oldies like Prince’s Kiss and new emerging artist’s like Bruno Mars, Ceelo. I would have never knew that My Chemical Romance sung “Sing” unless I saw it on Glee. I downloaded the original after that.

@Mandee there are other ways to watch missed episodes of Glee besides buying the DVD’s *evil grin*

  23. mandee • April 24, 2011 @ 3:51 PM

😀 thanks for the reminder…sadly at the moment i am too busy with work and school to have the time to catch up now though 🙁 in 6 months when im done school i may finally catch up ! 😀

you know i have been reading the argument between mandee and Germaine. and i agree with mandee if you do not like the show then stop reading the articles about it it’s called the delete button people. and Germaine you need to grow up. Your acting like a whiny spoiled child get a life and move on!!!!!!! like a million other shows out there this dhow is not to my taste but i also will not bash it and ruin it for the other people who do enjoy it it’s a kids show for Christ sakes if people did not like it, it would not have as many seasons as it has had. just let it go. And you move on and do your own thing.

He needs to take a pill. It’s a TV show for crying out loud. It’s not art.
