This morning, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced their list of contenders for the 70th annual Golden Globe Awards. Like the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards and the Screen Actors Guild Awards, 2013’s Golden Globe Awards sees Steven Spielberg‘s Lincoln among this year’s frontrunners with an impressive seven nominations. Close behind are Ben Affleck’s drama Argo and Quentin Tarantino’s spaghetti western Django Unchained, which each received five nods. As expected, Daniel Day-Lewis, John Hawkes, Joaquin Phoenix, Denzel Washington and Richard Gere made the list for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture. The nominations for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture also listed popular names for this awards season: Jessica Chastain, Marion Cotillard, Helen Mirren, Naomi Watts and Rachel Weisz. Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are set to host this year’s show, which will air on January 13, 2013. Below are the nominations for some of the bigger categories. THE DARK KNIGHT RISES looks like the one to beat.

In my head the winners would be….
Drama Movie: Argo or Zero Dark Thirty
    Drama Actress: Jessica Chastain
Drama Actor: John Hawkes (cause he was wonderful in that movie)
    Comedy or Musical: Moonrise Kingdom
    Supporting Actor: Leo DiCaprio
    Supporting Actress: Helen Hunt
Sadly that will probably not happen for at least 3 categories, but it never hurts to hope 🙂
