Gravity breaks industry records at weekend box office

Gravity, starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, shot to the top of the box office charts this weekend. The space thriller debuted with $55.6 million, the biggest October opening ever. Gravity scored a Tribute rating of 3.7 stars and has received many accolades from critics and fans alike. Dropping to second place is last week’s top film, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2. The animated sequel earned $21.5 million and a Tribute rating of 4 stars. Runner Runner, starring Ben Affleck and Justin Timberlake, opened with $7.6 million, taking the third position at the box office. Tribute users gave the film 3.75 stars.  Kidnapping drama Prisoners dropped two spots to secure fourth place, earning an extra $5.7 million and a Tribute rating of 3.9 stars. Rush scooped the fifth spot, earning
$4.4 million. The film, starring Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Brühl, earned a solid 4.3 stars from Tribute fans. Rounding out the top 10 are Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Don Jon, Baggage Claim, Insidious: Chapter 2, Pulling Strings and Enough Said.

    This is nothing against the movie. I have not seen it. I am planning on seeing it. But this “record” doesn’t count because most people are seeing it in IMAX AND 3D. That bumps up the price a lot.

    Of the people who’ve seen it, I agree with their tastes and they suggest I should, so I will likely see it. Then give a review. I want to see Runner Runner and Prisoners and Rush too. Some movies with story and thought.
