Greyson Chance lands record deal!

Youtube sensation Greyson Chance, 12, has landed a record deal just days after appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Ellen saw him singing Lady Gaga’s Paparazzi at his school’s Sixth Grade Festival on Youtube a few weeks ago (the video has had over 17 million hits on the video sharing site) and immediately called him to come appear on her show. Interscope chairman Jimmy Lovine then approached Greyson after his appearance on the talk show last Wednesday and closed the deal before any other label had time to approach him. The Edmond, Oklahoma native told Ellen he’s had three years of piano lessons but has never taken voice lessons. Lady Gaga called by phone to say hello to Greyson and advised him: “Stay away from girls and be focused.” Watch his full appearance on Ellen’s show below:

he has two original songs on youtube and they are really well written. The lyrics arent oooo baby baby every two seconds lol, it appears that he put real heart and soul into his two songs ive heard so far.

When Bieber Fever cools down we can have Chance Romance.

He’s writing good songs at 12? That is an accomplishment.

oh, thanks for clearing that up for me. maybe he will write his own music and have a great career 🙂

Hes already writting his own music minus the Lady gaga cover. I just hope the label doesnt destroy what he has to offer by turning into another “Bieber”. That would be a real waste 🙁

yes thats what i meant, maybe he will stick to his own music and wait to find a label that will allow him to do his own thing.

Greyson seems like a pretty level headed kid with good strong values. I hope he goes far in the industry and achieves the type of success he’s dreamed of.

I also hope that he’s not turned into some robotic little lookalike with all the other so called “stars” out there. He’s a fresh and natural talent and I hope he stays that way!

Kudos to his parents – they’ve raised up a fine young man.

He’ll shine and fade away like many of the other kid singers has. And he’s not THAT great.

The boy is pretty young and has talent. Good for him. My question is, Why have the “American Idol” show and let the contestants go through all that long tiring process to get a record deal after 1 whole season when all you have to do is appear on Ellen show just that one time and tadaaa get a record deal just like that. Now that’s fast forward. They say there’s no short cutts in life but I beg to differ. Don’t you?

jimbo, i agree. i still dont think hes that great either.

sharon, and all he had to do to appear on ellen was put a video on youtube lmfao.

Hmm. Maybe I should re-consider my ‘no-posting-videos-on-YouTube’ policy… Who knows, right?
