Guy Ritchie ordered to reshoot Sherlock Holmes

By Alexandra Heilbron on February 18, 2009 | 11 Comments

Guy RitchieGuy Ritchie has allegedly been ordered by Warner Bros. to do a five week re-shoot of a number of scenes for his upcoming movie Sherlock Holmes. Executives from the movie studio told him the first cut of the film was not good enough, and dismissed one scene as being “ridiculously unrealistic,” according to British paper The Sun. An insider explained that Ritchie was “distracted” while filming because of his divorce from Madonna, adding: “It’s disastrous news, but Guy has promised to fix it.” Robert Downey Jr. stars as Holmes, with Jude Law playing Watson. Ritchie is struggling to keep the project on track for its original November 13 release date.

Yeah, that would suck having to call everyone back to re-do 5 weeks worth. Hope it all works out. Can’t really blame the guy for being distracted by all of Madge’s BS.

I don’t buy his distraction excuse.
He’s made good movies before…get on with it…

Separation, being unsure if your wife cheated on you, not knowing how often you’d be able to see your children and if they are being brainwashed, yeah, I can totally see how he would be distracted. But I think it’s great of him to want to fix it and get it out on time.

I have faith in Guy. It will be sick after he’s done and gets his head straight.

The only good movie he’s done is that RocknRolla

Hey he made Snatch and Lock stock and two smoking barrels(both very good)but he also made Swept away(you all know how good that was).Hope this doesn’t spell disaster for a project i thought initially had some potential.

I did a few days work on the new ‘Sherlock Holmes’ movie and after witnessing Guy Ritchie’s “involvement”, I wouldn’t be surprised if these rumours about re-shoots were true.

He didn’t seem ‘distracted’, rather bored and uninterested. He spent a lot of time strumming on an acoustic guitar with his feet up and talking on the phone. When Robert Downey Jnr talked to him there didn’t appear to be a whole lot of chemistry there.

I’d have thought making this film would’ve been a great distraction from his divorce and he could’ve thrown himself in it – but just from being on-set those few days (and maybe those were his ‘bad’ days) I know personally I’d have been all over that film giving it 100%, instead of glaring at the (really good) 1st AD as if he were a complete moron and warm myself to the rest of the crew.

Well, Linda that is a very interesting comment you had, and with firsthand insight, it certainly puts things in perspective here. I had strong doubts, like I earlier expressed about his distraction excuse…
