Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows footage leaked online

By Alexandra Heilbron on November 17, 2010 | 4 Comments

The first 36 minutes of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 was leaked online yesterday morning and thousands of fans scrambled to get to the footage before it disappeared. Though the movie officially opens Friday, Warner Bros. gave out passes to lucky fans to see it earlier this week. Everyone who entered a preview screening was searched on the way in with a metal detector and a pat down. Though the source of the leak is still unknown, it’ll be interesting to find out if the leak was through a fan with a video camera or an inside job. “This constitutes a serious breach of copyright violation and theft of Warner Bros. property,” Warner Bros. told The Hollywood Reporter in a statement. “We are working actively to restrict and/or remove copies that may be available. Also, we are vigorously investigating this matter and will prosecute those involved to the full extent of the law.” The previous instalment, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, was one of the most-pirated movies last year, with more than eight million illegal downloads.

I can’t find it. I guess they took it down already. It probably wouldn’t have looked that great anyway, if someone did it with a camera in a theatre. Anyway, I can’t wait to see it, I’ve already got tickets for this Saturday!

I am heading away on vacation but I intend to watch this as soon as I return in theaters. Some films just need to be watched on the big screen at least once. This is one of them.

Some people ruin it for everyone. I guess some people will dispute that statement and say seeing it online first can’t possibly ruin things. Well firstly, you only get 30mins footage..big deal. You get a taste of it in the trailers. And secondly all these people that leak to the net created harsh rules for piracy and such, now it’s becoming serious offenses and really, doesn’t people enjoy the movie going experience? So, now they will say if you don’t want to watch it online then don’t. Well it’s hard when everyone around you catches a glimpse and discusses it around chat rooms/water coolers/ etc…

    Loses excitement.

That’s what’s to expect when a big movie is about to come out…You’ll always have imbiciles do things like that’ I’ve actually got mad at people filming the same movie I’m watching, and ould throw things at them to make them stop…!
