Harry Potter fans can now sign up for online Hogwarts courses

Ever since 1997, when fans first read about Hogwarts in Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone, eager “muggles” have wondered when they would get the chance to study at the famous school of magic. The closest they have gotten so far is seeing it on the big screen through the film franchise. Now, however, thanks to a group of dedicated volunteers, you can enroll in “Hogwarts Is Here” online.

The site allows users to receive an acceptance letter, download textbooks, be sorted into one of the four houses (Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff) and have the opportunity to chat with other students as well as earn points for your house. According to the a written statement on the site, “Our goal is to create the magical experience that we as fans have all been looking for since we finished the last book.” Although the site isn’t officially recognized by author J.K. Rowling, she doesn’t mind when fans create Harry Potter based sites and sometimes even hands out awards to fan sites through her own website. Although there’s still no way to actually physically attend classes at Hogwarts yet, this is the next best thing. ~Tarah Bleier
