Heath Ledger’s music videos to be released

Heath LedgerTwo music videos that Oscar-winner Heath Ledger directed before his death in January 2008 are going to be released this year, according to Billboard. The first is an animated video for Modest Mouse’s song “King Rat,” a bonus track from the Seattle rockers’ 2007 album We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank. The second is a video for Grace Woodroofe’s cover of David Bowie’s “Quicksand.” Ledger directed “King Rat” after meeting Modest Mouse frontman Isaac Brock in Australia. “Heath and I have a mutual friend and when we were in Australia, my fiancée and some of us in the band went out on a boat with him and his family and friends and talked about the idea,” Brock told VH1. “The idea sort of dropped, but then he just sent me an email saying that he wanted to do it.” The videos weren’t Ledger’s first shots at directing – he also directed promo clips for Australian MC N’fa and the late singer-songwriter Nick Drake.

The only names I’ve heard of from this whole article are Heath Ledger and David Bowie! LOL.

Modest Mouse is amazing. never heard of woodroofe and i’m confused about the promo clips for nick drake. why do they say ‘late’? he’s been dead for decades now…by the way he’s amazing as well!

    i smell a grammy win……………..

  4. lily • March 22, 2009 @ 8:29 AM

If that’s a jab at Heath’s oscar win, I think it’s quite unfair. He was completely spellbinding as the Joker and would have won even if he hadn’t tragically passed.
If those songs are great and you really mean they deserve awards, I’m sorry. I never heard of any of them either.

    »Excellent news,indeed. Yes.

  6. max powers • March 22, 2009 @ 8:25 PM

he was not “spellbinding” in the dark knight,oh god, don’t break your ankle jumping on the Ledger bandwagon……………well he won bc he died so why not throw a few grammy’s his way too…..

  7. Jo-Anne • March 22, 2009 @ 9:21 PM

no, he was not spellbinding, he was “completely spellbinding”…

    no ankle breaking required

when you desperate ladies are here trying to live bi-curoisly through famous ppl’s lives who’s taking care of your cats…?

  9. Jo-Anne • March 22, 2009 @ 10:19 PM

my cats are very self sufficient, thanks for asking, max

why, in fact, they’re probably re-watching Batman (cheering for Heath, of course) as I write this and hopefully not fighting over the remote…

Your opinion doesn’t matter to her, Max. All she hears is you being “insensitive”. LOL. If you say ANYTHING about the article that Jo-Anne doesn’t want to hear she won’t just skip over it and say “Oh well, that’s just his opinion”….she will make absolutely sure that she lets YOU and EVERYONE ELSE know just how “insensitive” you are!! Trust me…I know…I’m usually the one on the “insensitive” end. 😀 Personally, I haven’t watched The Dark Knight, so I can’t say whether Heath deserved the award or not but, what I can say, is that Max is entitled to his opinion on the topic.

    Stir, stir, stir the cauldron

    LOL

Give it up Nancy. Just because Jo Anne gave a different opinion than Max doesn’t mean that she doesn’t think he is entitled to his. She didn’t say anything derogatory about him or his opinion.

And she even took the high road replying to Max’s personal slam about “desperate ladies” and their cats.

  13. tributegirl • March 23, 2009 @ 3:44 PM

Hmmm, interesting cat comment…Jim, I think we just found out who your double was!
Nancy, you haven’t seen The Dark Knight??? Good Lord, woman! Get out there & rent it! I am not even a Batman fan, but thought it was great! And yes, Heath’s performance was absolutely deserving of every nomination and award that he won, and I’m not saying that because I’m trying to “live through” his life (?), I’m saying it because it’s a fact, he was brilliant.

  14. lily • March 23, 2009 @ 4:40 PM

This “desperate lady” knows the word is VICARIOUSLY, Max. When you couple childish insults with unintelligible vocabulary, your opinions do not invite intelligent debate.

To so tired of this: well said!

    To tributegirl: also well said!

  15. Nancy • March 23, 2009 @ 4:48 PM

Hmmmmmmm….I’m wondering who perhaps commented as ‘so tired of this’ on March 23 @ 10 am…??? Anyways…whoever you are….you’re right! She didn’t say anything “derogatory about him or his opinion”…..she saves those comments for me, right? Come on, admit it! You know it’s true! 😀 Tributegirl: I’ve thought about renting it, go past it all the time and always find something that looks and sounds more interesting. I usually rent either comedy or horror movies but, I might buy the Dark Knight dvd, I just bought Twilight on Saturday…O M G ! I couldn’t believe all the humans out there on a Saturday! LMAO!

  16. tributegirl • March 23, 2009 @ 8:39 PM

Ah, you’ve gotta see it, waaaaay better than Twilight, actually there’s no comparison. And yeah, lots of humans! Woo Hoo!

Anon, I was busy reading my horoscpope yesterday…and I quote…
“you may be someone who is adept at engaging in passive-aggressive behavior.”

p.s. did you write that column????

  18. Nancy • March 24, 2009 @ 9:47 AM

    knew you’d appreciate that, Anon!

and…just doing my part to provide Nancy with “just can’t help herself material”…

who says I don’t cover all my bases??

  21. Nancy • March 24, 2009 @ 4:25 PM

I wonder what other truths were written in your “horrorscope”? 😀

  22. Jo-Anne. • March 24, 2009 @ 4:50 PM

I think it said “Don’t trust people who end their sentence with a smiley face”…

  23. Nancy • March 24, 2009 @ 5:22 PM

    Oh, in that case…. 😀 😛 😉 😀 😛 😉
