According to Variety, Helena Bonham Carter will join Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush in the historic drama The King’s Speech. The story follows the adventures of the young King George VI, father of Queen Elizabeth II. George VI accepted the throne after his brother Edward’s abdication. Few people believed that George VI, who was inflicted with a stutter, was a good king. However, he befriended a speech therapist, Lionel Logue, who helped him find security in speaking, and then led his country to war against Nazi Germany. Helena Bonham Carter will play Queen Elizabeth, while Colin Firth will play George VI. Geoffrey Rush will play Lionel Logue. Filming is already underway in the United Kingdom.
