Henry Cavill bares all in hotel lobby

Although the world will see Henry Cavill and his abs of steel in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice this weekend, he revealed during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers this week that hotel guests got an unobstructed, firsthand view of his naked body in 2013.

Henry had just landed in Los Angeles when he won the part of Superman in Man of Steel and celebrated by going out for drinks with his agent, but the next thing he remembered was being in the hotel hallway without a shred of clothing.

He said, “I passed out a bit jetlagged, and I woke up to the sound of my door closing in my hotel room. Of course, I then realized that I was on the outside of my door – and I had no clothes on.”

Henry continued, “I had completely gotten up to go for a pee, and the way the bed was set up was, at the foot of the bed was the entrance to the hotel by my room, and to the left of the bed was where the bathroom was. I got out the right-hand side of the bed, and just went straight for the first door I saw, and woke up completely naked in the hallway.”

At that point, however, Henry admitted finding a bathroom was his top priority. “Being naked in the hallway is a pretty big problem, but I needed to pee, and I was desperately thinking, ‘Where am I going to pee?'”

The actor leaped into action, darting up a fire escape and urinating off the top of the hotel. He was relieved of one issue, but still faced another.

Relaying the story to Seth, he said, “I thought, ‘You know what? Ride the elevator down. Be a man about it.’ I walked into the reception, and I said to the receptionist, ‘This is really embarrassing. I locked myself out of my hotel room. Can I have my key to get back in?’ And he says, ‘Yeah, of course. What room are you in?’ Doesn’t bat an eye! Doesn’t even look up. And I was thinking, ‘How often does this happen at this hotel?'”

Not everyone was as nonchalant about the situation, though. The security guard tasked with escorting Henry back to his room was noticeably uncomfortable next to the exposed Superman.

Henry said, “He was a bit more freaked out than the receptionist, it was clearly his first time. I didn’t sleep for the rest of that night and I was pretty sure I was going to have been caught on camera and lost the job.”

He didn’t lose the job, of course, but reassured Seth and viewers that he learned his lesson. He promised, “I now put chairs up against the doors of every hotel I sleep in.”
