Here's what's new on Netflix Canada - April 2020
Who knew the world would change so much in a month? Now, as we practice social distancing and self-isolation at home, Netflix (among other streamers) is our go-to source of entertainment. Netflix has been releasing twice as much content — with trending titles such as Love is Blind, Elite and Tiger King. This April, there’s a bigger selection of films and TV to keep you entertained. Money HeistThe uber popular Money Heist, a.k.a. La casa de papel, is back with Part 4 on April 3. Lives are on the line as the Professor’s plan begins to unravel and the thieves must fend off enemies from both inside and outside the Bank of Spain.

Coffee & Kareem (April 3) is a comedy fit for uncertain times as this. An inept Detroit cop James Coffee (Ed Helms) must team up with his girlfriend’s (Taraji P. Henson) foul-mouthed young son, Kareem, when their first crack at bonding time uncovers a criminal conspiracy.

A cute animated film releasing this month is The Willoughbys (April 22). The four Willoughby children are convinced they’d be better off raising themselves so they hatch a sneaky plan to send their selfish parents away on vacation and embark on their own high-flying adventure to find the true meaning of family.

Chris Hemsworth in ExtractionA Chris Hemsworth film makes quarantine time a pinch better, no? In Extraction (April 24), Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) is a fearless black market mercenary with nothing left to lose when he is tasked with rescuing the kidnapped son of an imprisoned international crime lord.

A hilarious new comedy that’s a must-watch is Never Have I Ever (April 27), starring our very own Canadian newcomer Maitreyi Ramakrishnan. It’s a coming-of-age comedy series about the life of a modern first-generation Indian American teenage girl, inspired by Mindy Kaling’s own childhood.

A comedy worth your time is Anger Management (April 1). Dave Buznik (Adam Sandler) is accused wrongly of being aggressive on an airplane and sentenced to anger management classes. When he goes to the first class, he discovers that the man (Jack Nicholson) who caused the initial problem on the plane is none other than the therapist who is running the classes.

This one is guaranteed laughs. In White Chicks (April 1), agents Marcus and Kevin Copeland (Marlon and Shawn Wayans) go undercover as socialite sisters Brittany and Tiffany Wilson (Maitland Ward and Anne Dudek) in an attempt to find out who is trying to kidnap the demanding divas.

Another one to watch, even if it’s just for Channing Tatum, is Magic Mike (April 1). Mike (Channing Tatum) works construction by day but by night he’s something much more exciting — a stripper. Need we say more?

Watch Jennifer Lopez in two rather adorable hit rom-coms, starting April 1 — The Wedding Planner and Maid in Manhattan.

Action & Adventure
When it comes to action and adventure, the heist ones do not disappoint. More so if they star George Clooney and Brad Pitt. Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s Thirteen are among the top recommendations we have this month. Also, the newest all-female entry into this franchise, Ocean’s 8 starring Sandra Bullock and Anne Hathaway, will also be streaming in April.
