Hobbs & Shaw land another winning weekend at the box office

Hobbs & Shaw movie posterFast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw managed to fend off several new movies, earning the top spot for the second week in a row with $25.4 million. The first spin-off to the Fast & Furious franchise has gained a total of $108.5 million during its first 10 days at the box office.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, the horror film based on the terrifying children’s book series, debuted in second place with a total of $20.8 million this weekend.

The Lion King dropped down a spot to third place, earning $20 million this weekend. Entering its fourth week, the CGI animated film has garnered a total of $473.1 million.

The family film Dora and the Lost City of Gold, starring Isabela Moner, debuted in fourth place. This live-action adaptation of the popular animated TV series earned a domestic total of $17 million.

Rounding out the top five was Quentin Tarantino‘s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which took in an additional $11.6 million. Following this weekend’s ticket sales, the film has now reached a domestic total of $100.3 million. ~Emily Chavez
