Hospital has to return $500K to Garth Brooks

A jury has ruled in favor of Garth Brooks getting back the $500,000 he gave to an Oklahoma hospital. The country superstar filed a breach-of-contract lawsuit against Integris Canadian Valley Regional Hospital in Yukon, Oklahoma, stating that the hospital had promised that the donation, which he made anonymously, would go towards putting his late mother’s name on a hospital building. Two years after he made the donation, they changed their minds, but kept the money. The trial began last week and the jury came back with the verdict yesterday. Brooks’ mother, Colleen Brooks, died of cancer in 1999. During the trial, Brooks said the hospital’s president, James Moore, initially suggested putting his mother’s name on an intensive care unit, but Brooks didn’t think that would fit his mother’s image. When Moore then suggested putting her name on a women’s center, Brooks said, “I jumped all over it.” Brooks was emotional as he told jurors: “It’s my mom. My mom was pregnant as a teenager. She had a rough start. She wanted to help every kid out there.”

Good for you Garth, James Moore is pretty stupid

Mr. Moore probably makes as much in a year in pay. So it will sting when he loses his job because of how he handled this

I can see both sides, I mean, a donation should be made because you want to help a charity. But if he made it conditionally, they should have met the condition. Now they’re out half a million. How stupid is that.

Thank God someone has taken on hospital administration who think they are Kings of the Kingdom and not accountable to anyone. It certainly illustrates how inept and stupid these administrators are about the realities of how the world works.
Garth has always generously given to many charitable organizations. Such a sizeable donation was given, and all he asked for was some recognition for his dear mother who he loved so much, and who was taken too soon.

The Integris Canadian Valley Regional Hospital is run by a rat bastard! They should have followed thru with it but wanted to keep the money and change the plans.

I would hate to be Moore right about now since people wont respect him or look at him the same way again.
