Hugh Jackman has vocal hemorrhage

Hugh Jackman has suffered a vocal hemorrhage.

The 46-year-old actor has been forced to cancel the remaining dates of his one-man show, An Evening with Hugh Jackman, in Istanbul, Turkey this week after blood vessels on his left vocal chord burst — but he has promised disappointed fans he will be rescheduling the dates.

He tweeted March 18: ”Merhaba. I have a left vocal hemorrhage. At advice of Dr. Kocak Dr Korovin I will cancel my shows in Turkey. Make no mistake, I’ll be back!(sic)”

He later added: ”I’m devastated at not sharing my show w you tonight. For all Turks & Cannakale it’s a very important night. Was to be very special for me.(sic)”

The Wolverine actor had been due to perform a total of four gigs, featuring improvisations, musical pieces and highlights from Broadway shows at the Zorlu Center. Ahead of the first show on March 17, the Australian actor spoke of his ties to the country.

He said: ”My great-grandfather lived here. He spent his life here working at a bank in Istanbul. My father … he always says you’re sort of part Turkish somewhere. Maybe that’s why I love the coffee so much.”

He also reminisced about a holiday he and his wife took to Turkey, where they stayed in a $25-a-night hotel and endured a 18-hour bus ride to the Southern coast.

He recalled: ”My wife and I came here shortly after we were married.”
