Hugh Jackman retires from Wolverine role

By Tribute on February 21, 2013 | 5 Comments

Hugh Jackman is retracting his claws for good. The X-Men star’s contract with Marvel Movies will expire on his seventh film. Though the actor has been featured in notable movies such as Deception, Van Helsing and most recently, the Golden Globe winner Les Misérables, he will always be identified with his breakthrough role as the rough and tough Wolverine. Hugh will make his final appearance in the new X-Men film; X-Men: Days of Future Past. There was speculation that he wouldn’t be appearing in the newest installment, but fans were able to breathe a sigh of relief when director Bryan Singer tweeted the good news: “I would officially like to welcome @RealHughJackman to the cast of #Xmen Days of Future Past.” While fans wait anxiously to see Hugh reprise his role in the newest film set to be released July 18, 2014, they can head to theaters this summer to see his second spin-off movie featuring the brooding hero: The Wolverine on July 26, 2013. Though the actor may be finished with Wolverine, he will continue his successful acting career, and hopes to one day play another notable hero: Bond. ~Brittnee Fleming

Although Jackman has been super as Wolverine, if there should be any further X-films after Days of Future Past, maybe we’ll get an actor who more closely resembles the character from the comics (who is considerably shorter).

    One can hope…

That’s true. But I would say he was amazing and now seeing him in the role I don’t think they can replace him. It’s to bad really but it defininalty makes sense. I just hope he keeps up with his physic it would be a shame if he let it all go lol. I personally would like to see another Van Helsing or maybe even put him in the role as Gabriel/Dracula for the Castlevania franchise. That would be awesome 🙂 Good luck Hugh and good luck on getting the role as Bond that would be awesome as well, but definitely hard since Gerald Butler would be auditioning lol. It’s ok just do what you do best 🙂 thx for Wolverine and your comitment it’s really sad to see you go 🙁

Only two more chances now to see Jackman’s Wolverine rip apart a sentinel (and not just walk out from behind a robot head in the danger room)
What was everyone’s favourite Hugh Jackman Wolverine moment?

I think they did really well with choosing actors to resemble the comic characters and wolverine was a great find in Jackman. And pretty danm impressive he stuck it out of this many movies! He’s a very honourable person to workout as hardcore as he does everytime he needs to take up the roll again.
My fav moment was the very instant he was featured in the ring in the first X-Men. I thought just a little too skinny, BUT ultimately I liked that they started him in the ring hardcore fighting in Alberta with that hair!
