Hugh Jackman to work magic on Broadway

hugh_jackman12.jpgHugh Jackman, who’s currently starring on the big screen in Australia, is set to play legendary magician Harry Houdini in a Broadway musical. Jackman has already started learning magic routines and plans to replicate Houdini’s illusions on stage. Reports say that the producers of Houdini will consult with magician Ricky Jay, illusionist David Blaine and Cirque du Soleil for the production. Jackman is no stranger to Broadway — in 2004, he won a Tony Award as Best Actor (Musical) for his portrayal of Australian singer/songwriter Peter Allen in The Boy From Oz. Broadway attendance has been down lately; hopefully this production will bring life back to “The Great White Way.”

It’s really too bad that Broadway is closing almost 70% of it’s shows. Stage does way more for me than movies. It is still a dream of mine to one day make it to New York and have a week full of Broadway. I’ve already done the Stratford and Shaw Festivals here in Canada, now I need more! haha
Good for Jackman. I love it when actors go to stage. Like Antonio Banderas. Awesome!
