Hugh Jackman turns down Academy Awards

Hugh Jackman, who hosted the Oscars in 2009 and has previously hosted the Tony Awards on Broadway, has turned down an offer to host the upcoming Academy Awards. Not only does the awards show conflict with his X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2 shooting schedule, but he also feels someone else should get the opportunity. He turned it down last year as well, so Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin shared hosting duties. Betty White, 88, who hosted the live late night show Saturday Night Live a few months ago, is apparently considered the front runner to host the Oscars. The nominations for the 83rd Academy Awards, which will be held on February 27, 2011, will be announced on January 25, 2011.

So who do you think should host the Oscars this time? I hadn’t even thought of Betty White, but she seems like a great choice. Steve Martin is also fab! Thoughts?

Hell ya! I loved the Alec Baldwin/Steve Martin combo, but Betty White is on fire lately and before she passes on let’s get her on stage in her prime to make us all laugh. I would be devastated if she didn’t get the opportunity. Her voice over work rocks (ie:Family Guy), her guest appearances are legendary, her movies, her commercials (ie:MARS bars football scene), she totally deserves a chance.

As for Wolverine 2, way to let everyone know about the shooting schedule of a great franchise before we find out any other way lol.

First off I just wanted to say that I think Hugh Jackman turning down the hosting duties is really humbling. He is so considerate for others in his field. That’s a guy who you want to be watching your back!

And as much as I love Betty White, I think Conan O’Brien would do more justice to hosting the Oscars than anyone else.

And if the networks are concerned about drawing viewers, Conan’s debut on TBS drew 4.2 million people! Oscars decline in audience will be restored if Conan is chosen to host the Oscars!

Well, and then there is that other fact that he is absolutely hilarious!!! I mean he is an absolute FUNNY man! And brilliant! Did I mention that? He is just so damn clever! Cleverly Funny!

I hope the execs and programmers for the Oscar out there somewhere will read this and choose Conan to host the Oscars. Wouldn’t it be awesome if the public could choose the host of the Oscars!!

    That’s just what I think!
