Hunger Games author is bestselling on Kindle

Fans have eagerly been waiting for the film release of The Hunger Games and now Suzanne Collins, the author of the book from which the film is based on, has officially become the bestselling Kindle author of all time. Although no official sales stats have been released, Amazon confirmed that the the three books in Collins’ trilogy (The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay) top the list of Kindle’s 2012 sales charts. The print versions have sold about $23.5 million copies since the first one was published in 2008.

The Hunger Games, starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, is set in a futuristic world where citizens are divided into 12 districts, all of which are controlled by the Capitol. Once a year, a group of teenagers are selected at random from each district to compete in the televised Hunger Games where to win, you must do whatever it takes to kill off your competitors. The last one standing is then awarded with a feast of food. The film opens in theaters March 23 with the Canadian premiere on Monday March 19 in Toronto.     I really don’t get why they’re making this a movie and why everyone’s so excited about. This was an incredibly disturbing subject matter to begin with!
