The Hunger Games continues to dominate box office

The Hunger Games, starring Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson, continued its box office success for the fourth straight weekend, hauling in an additional $21.5 million for a four-week total of over $337 million in North America alone. Tribute viewers rate the movie 3.6 stars out of 5. The new movie The Three Stooges did better than expected, earning an estimated $17.1 million and 4.4 stars at Tribute.ca, while another new release, The Cabin in the Woods, debuted in third place, earning $14.9 million and 3.8 stars. The Titanic re-release in 3D starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet dropped a spot to fourth, earning $11.6 million in its second weekend at the box office, with Tribute viewers rating it 4 1/2 stars. Rounding out the top five was the American Pie sequel American Reunion, earning an estimated $10.7 million and 4 out of 5 stars from Tribute viewers.

As much as I love this movie, I think it’s time for another movie to take over!
I would like to take all the adolescents who think this is a great form of entertainment and put their names in a barrel. Pull out two of the names, 1 boy and 1 girl from each town/city and take them to a place where they will kill each other until only one survives. Then they’ll see how entertaining it is when their lives are on the line. We are raising sadist little creeps and I worry about any generation that thinks this is a great book or movie.
Oh, and you seem to think I mean the sadists are the poor people in the 12 Districts in the book/movie. I don’t. They’re horrified because they actually have to watch their children being sacrificed. I mean you. And everyone else who is paying to watch this brutality.
Deb shut up. You dont get the point of the movie/book. Its about what the capitol does to these poor people just because 70 some years ago there was a war and that stuid government couldnt let go of it decades later. Its like calling Twilight fans stupid hormone crazed 13 year olds. More people than that demographic see twilight, so just because we like the movie or the book doesnt mean that fans of The Hunger Games are sadists. Alot of us liked the movie, including me, and let me tell you when Rue was killed the entire theater was in tears. Does that equal sadists? No. It means that we like this movie cause its emotional and makes you feel every emotion in the book, not because we love watching a little 12 year old get killed. so Deb, why dont you just not say anything else, cause I, along with others, dont want to hear your stupid sadist comments anymore. Understood?
I’m with Olive and Tharsos ,while Deb you are certainly intitled to your opinion I think your way off base and your comments are some what idiotic.Though I never read the book I walked away from the film feeling it was a stunnining indictment against voyerism(ie.reality TV)and totalitarianism.
I took my son and nine of his friends to see this movie for his birthday and during a particularly tragic scene after which the citizens of district 12 raised their hands in their thrre finger salute my son and his friends followed suitt in silent solidarity…I think they got it.
