Ian Somerhalder is taking a break from brooding, saving damsels in distress and sucking blood during his summer hiatus from his hit TV series The Vampire Diaries and is headed across the pond to film a new movie. The 34-year-old actor will star in the upcoming action thriller film The Anomaly, alongside Brian Cox, Luke Hemsworth (Chris and Liam Hemsworth’s older brother), Alexis Knapp (Pitch Perfect) and Noel Clarke (Star Trek Into Darkness), who is also serving as director. The film’s original plot follows the accounts of a traumatized ex-soldier who wakes up in the back a van alongside a kidnapped boy to find he has only nine minutes and 37 seconds of consciousness to figure out exactly why and how he got there. Currently filming in London, England, further details and a release date are still to be announced. ~Naomi Leanage
