The new action adventure Immortals garnered the top spot at the box office this past weekend, grossing an estimated $32 million (all figures U.S.), knocking out two-time champ Puss in Boots and — despite a lack of A-list stars — beating releases starring Adam Sandler and Leonardo DiCaprio. The comedy Jack and Jill, starring the aforementioned Sandler, debuted in second, earning a respectable $26 million and 3.75 stars at Tribute. Puss in Boots dropped two spots to third place, earning $25.5 million for a three-week total of almost $109 million. Its Tribute rating remains high at 4.3 stars. Tower Heist, starring Ben Stiller, dropped to fourth place with a take of $13.2 million and a 4 star rating at Tribute.ca, while the biopic J.Edgar, with DiCaprio in the title role, rounded out the top five with $11.5 million and 4.1 stars from Tribute.ca users.

I saw Immortals and really, it’s long drawn out and it’s a 300 rip off. I get the gore, but really it’s just a rip off. I understand the producers of 300 likely wanted a director to have the same vision of Zack Snyder (300 director) but really…
when I was watching it I had a totally different vision for this type of movie. It could have been way better. side note: The Oracle in the movie (Freida Pinto) is wow!
