21 Jump Street leads weekend box office

The hilarious new comedy 21 Jump Street, starring Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill and featuring a cameo by Johnny Depp, took over the top spot at the weekend box office, grossing an estimated $35 million.  Tribute viewers gave it a high rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars. After two weekends at the top Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax was knocked to second place, earning an additional $22.8 million. John Carter was pushed to third place in its second weekend out, taking in $13.5 million with a Tribute.ca rating of 4.3 stars. Project X, about high school misfits who throw an out-of-control party dropped a spot to fourth, earning an extra $4 million and getting a 2.5 star rating from Tribute users. Eddie Murphy‘s comedy A Thousand Words earned just $3.8 million, but climbed a spot to fifth place. The limited amount of Tribute.ca viewers who voted on it gave it 4.3 stars.

    It really doesn’t surprise me that Eddie Murphy’s movie is so low. Dumb actor, dumb storyline…his career is pretty much over.
