Busy day at Fan Expo Canada – Day 3

By Tribute on August 31, 2014 | 1 Comment

Saturday seems to be the busiest day at Fan Expo Canada and this year was no exception. It’s no wonder with stars like Nathan Fillion, Bruce Campbell , the Lost Girl cast and so many others in attendance. Fans had a chance not only to attend panels with the celebs but also had an item or photo signed and even get a photo-op with their favorite star. Before their special ticketed Doctor Who panel, Matt Smith and Arthur Darvill also did dual photo-ops and I hear, Matt Smith even lined up in Arthur Darvill’s autograph line, much to the delight of fans.

If you’re a fan of COSplay there was plenty to see yesterday, both from fans and special presentations like the 501st Legion’s Star Wars annual photo-op on level 700 and a COSplay masquerade later in the evening.

One of the highlights of the day was the Bruce Campbell panel, hosted by his fellow Xena: Warrior Princess co-star Ted Raimi. The comedic duo, teased fans by pointing out the three chairs on stage and invited any fan with a displayable talent up on stage. Audience members voted on the talent and then Bruce would give the winner five dollars.

Nathan Fillion was a delight (as always) during his panel, illustrating his Canadian background with charm and grace, even stopping during the panel to inquire how his host, SPACE channel’s Teddy Wilson was doing. Fans obviously adore Nathan, as one fan even gave him a photo of her and her fiance, thanking Nathan for bringing the two together and inviting Nathan to their wedding.

If steampunk is more your style, there is plenty of activities at the convention, including a steampunk duel where two opponents turn their backs, aim and fire with toy guns while surrounded by cheering fans. The Kill Shakespeare graphic novel came to life with an audience interactive stage play. I was also able to watch Showcase‘s first episode of new series Dominion, based on the Paul Bettany movie Legion and then attend the Lost Girl series panel with the @lostgirlseries host and stars Paul Amos, Rachel Skarsten, Anna Silk and Kris Holden-Ried.

Enjoy these photos from Saturday’s Fan Expo and stay tuned for Sunday’s adventures!
