Aaron Paul’s magic trick ruined his Cloverfield audition

Aaron Paul on the red carpet

Aaron Paul’s Cloverfield audition was derailed by J.J. Abrams.

In a discussion with Tom Hiddleston, Paul revealed that he was assured that J.J. Abrams would not be present at his Cloverfield audition.

The Breaking Bad star entered the room to find J.J. Abrams sitting at the table.

The two had worked together on Mission: Impossible III and found that they both shared an affinity for magic tricks.

During filming Abrams asked Aaron to perform his card tricks for Tom Cruise and the rest of the cast. He had to take a couple of tries to get it right and although Tom was delighted, Aaron said the trick “failed miserably.”

On the day of Aaron’s Cloverfield audition, J.J. recounted the card trick story to the rest of the room. Embarrassed by the memory, Aaron was thrown off, and when it came time for him to read his three page monologue, he choked.

Should J.J. have brought up the story, knowing that it may have made Aaron Paul anxious? Let us know in the comments. ~ Yanis Khamsi

Not sure Abrams is a nice guy, he apparently made Daisy Ridley pretty uncomfortable on the set of Star Wars at first.

Well, it’s a good way to see if someone can act while distracted. lol.

    Aaron Paul’s wife is a 10. He’s, at best, a hard 5.
